I don't know if you realize this but McDonalds is actually one of the more healthy fast food restaurants.

I don't know if you realize this, but my diarrhea is some of the best smelling diarrhea in the world.

I don't know if you realize this, but the Angels baseball team is comprised of some of the best players in the world.

By what criteria is McDonald's one of the more healthy fast food restaurants? Defining what is "healthy" is a pretty subjective thing. As part of my lifestyle, I track caloric information and macro-nutrients from everything I eat. Are 500 calories of McDonald's fries healthier than 500 calories of Carl's fries?

I think it has more to do with what menu items are available.  It is subjective in the sense of how the criteria is chosen.  However, if you look at them on the criteria of more healthy choices on the menu, then it is above average for fast food restaurants.

Fair enough, but their "healthy" items are not all that healthy. Their oatmeals and yogurts are loaded with sugar. I guess you could get the apple slices and 86 the carmel dipping stuff and black coffee.

Oh I know, the bar is definitely set low for healthy fast food restaurants.

We have one in town, but why go there when I can hit up Taco Johns anytime I want?

Since we're changing topics frequently :) would you say people in Montana are more or less addicted to fast food?

I have relatives in the south who live in a poor area.  People flock to McDonald's for a couple reasons: 1) to escape the humidity, and 2) free wireless internet.  Cable TV isn't an option out in the sticks, and the distance from their homes to the phone company's central office is too far for DSL to work.  The phone company is willing to upgrade the infrastructure at an astronomical price, something like $10,000 per house.

So they spend about as much time at McDonald's as we do on AngelsWin -- sometimes 1-3 hours per day.  They realize McDonald's is providing a service they can't afford any other way, so they're sure to support McDonalds by purchasing a beverage or an entire meal.

I don't know if it's any more popular here than back in California.  What is true is that small towns have limited choices for eating out.  So when you have a place like that, where people with kids can eat cheaply and quickly, that place is going to be busy.

Yeah, that's also true in the south.  Another problem is restaurants not serving lunch or closing their doors at 7 or 8:00pm.
