"Four girls in Rochelle, Ga. are fighting to do in their hometown what the Civil Rights Act was meant to do for all of America in 1964: end segregation. WSAV in Georgia reports that Wilcox County High School holds two proms for its students: a whites-only prom, and an integrated prom. WSAV notes that the school has never had a fully inclusive prom in its history." http://www.salon.com/2013/04/04/georgia_high_school_students_fight_for_first_ever_integrated_prom/

Just another fine example of our government misallocating taxpayer money. But hey, what's another $529 million when the Fed is printing $85 billion a month? Fisker Automotive entered the electric car market with hefty support from the U.S. Energy Department and backing from such celebs as Justin Bieber and Leonardo DiCaprio, but the company and its high-priced Fisker Karma have continued to skid financially. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/fisker-headed-solyndra-collapse/story?id=18861256#.UV7y8KsjpuA http://gigaom.com/2013/04/05/sources-fisker-to-lay-off-many-of-its-employees-today/

The economy is supposed to be improving, yet we spent 74.6 billion dollars on food stammps. http://money.msn.com/now/post.aspx?post=e9caf453-75ca-4ad6-ae9d-9b991cd6702f This is such a joke. You can buy monster energy drinks, mcdonalds and any crap you want at 7/11 with food stamps. Most of these people do not even need it. It is like the free and reduced lunches at schools. I see the kids getting the free breakfast in the morning, they are all watching videos on their smart phones and listening to music on their ipods.

Anyone else watching/seen this TV series political drama? It stars Kevin Spacey as a Congressman and majority whip of the Dems. It's incredible. It also makes politicians look like cheating, power-hungry, amoral, manipulative a-holes (and those are just the Democrats). Sometimes Spacey's character breaks the fourth wall and says what he's thinking to the audience, which takes a couple episodes to get used to. The first season of 13 episodes is on Netflix exclusively. You should definitely check it out if you're looking for a solid TV series to watch, especially if you're a politics nut.

People like me used to get emails about how bad the stock market was and how it was all Obama's fault? http://money.cnn.com/2013/03/28/investing/stocks-markets/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 Good times. Now the stock market doesn't really matter much and the president doesn't have anything to do with it.

"There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution." - John Adams Discuss.

From my Facebook feed via a friend's post: "I support with this disclaimer: This is a political issue, not a religious one. I don't think that the government should tell people who they can and cannot marry. As a Christian, my interpretation of scripture classifies homosexuality as a sin, but it also classifies drunkenness, lust, divorce, and pretty much everything else as such (though Christian society in general treats homosexuality much worse for some unknown reason, I have no idea why, don't ask me). If the government legislated what I believed was a sin, we'd all be in jail. Getting angry is a sin, thinking you're better than others, not giving everything you hav…

how in the hell is this moron still in the government? she attempts to reinstate the same assault weapons ban thatt did nothing to decrease deaths by gun. the fact that she is on the senate intelligence commitee is the biggest oxymoron and sick joke i have ever watched. this woman is objective evidence of how useless and sick our government is. however i guess feinstein doesn't do anything different from the rest of our elected officials. create a phony problem, generate drama about the phony problem solve it. then pat each other on the back like heros. the problem with gun laws and gun violence is that laws already on the books would solve them. california law states …

This is how it's supposed to be done. Not that procedural crap they do nowadays. Talk til you drop. Or until you make Harry Reid agree to hold a vote on a nonbinding resolution about drones. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/03/rand-paul-launches-filibuster-the-talking-kind-against-john-brennan/

http://tinyurl.com/chwy9o8 Have at it, liberals. Actor Who Plays the Devil on History's 'The Bible' Looks Like Obama The actor who plays the devil on the History channel's "The Bible" bears more than a passing resemblance to President Obama, a fact that hasn't gone unnoticed on social media. So, was it intentional? Responding to the speculation, the History released a statement saying, "History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History's 'The Bible' is meant to enlighten people on its rich stori…

Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, whose son came out two years ago, has reversed his view. Here's a telling quote: "I wrestled with how to reconcile my Christian faith with my desire for Will to have the same opportunities to pursue happiness and fulfillment as his brother and sister. Ultimately, it came down to the Bible's overarching themes of love and compassion and my belief that we are all children of God." I like that he follows the spirit of his faith rather than the letter of the law, which needs to be reframed for the modern age. On one hand it is too bad that it took actual experience for him to change his perspective, but that's usually what it requires. …

http://www.stripes.com/news/army-suspends-tuition-assistance-program-for-troops-1.210999 Many members of the military joined because of the educational benefits that were going to be provided to them. Now, at least for the Army and National Guard, they won't get those due to the budget cuts. Out of all the outrageous spending our government does, one of the first things they cut is soldiers education? Low, real low. How about cutting all the funding for new tanks? WE DON'T NEED THEM. Or the F-35? The F-15 outclasses 95% of the rest of the world's air forces still, and have never lost in air to air combat. And what they can't clean up, we've got the F-22. 2 thi…

Hey all. As most of you know (maybe not the younger folks), Social Security was started in 1935 by Franklin D. Roosevelt to help elderly citizens during the Great Depression. It wasn't originally planned to have lasted this long, yet still it stands. Just another tax the government is pulling out of your paycheck. I've heard arguments of all kinds about Social Security and the effect it's having on our national debt, but what's your thoughts? Do you think it should be discontinued and people should plan better for their future by having more in their savings? Do you think it's just fine the way it is? Or do you feel like it needs to be adjusted with the increasing inf…

Federal revenue will return to its pre-recession levels in 2013, according to projections from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), setting a record for the most money the government has ever taken in. http://cnsnews.com/news/article/cbo-federal-revenue-set-record-2013 In its latest Budget and Economic Update, the CBO forecasts that federal revenue will top $2.7 trillion in 2013, slightly higher than the $2.6 trillion the government collected in 2007, when the last recession officially began. Government revenues had fallen by nearly $500 billion during the recession to $2.1 trillion in 2009, contributing to the $1.5 trillion deficit that year. However, feder…

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/02/christie_budget_details.html#incart_river_default Gov. Chris Christie will expand the state's Medicaid program to cover 300,000 uninsured New Jersey residents, The Star-Ledger learned today. The governor's new budget, which he plans to unveil at joint session of the Legislature this afternoon, also relies on state revenue growth of 4.9 percent and delays some property tax rebates for local taxpayers, according to three sources with knowledge of the budget plan who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Keep it up Christie, and my vote is going to Rand Paul in the primaries. Boo!!!!

Or not. "The president and Jack Lew had this (saying it was the GOP's fault) wrong. My extensive reporting for my book “The Price of Politics” shows that the automatic spending cuts were initiated by the White House and were the brainchild of Lew and White House congressional relations chief Rob Nabors — probably the foremost experts on budget issues in the senior ranks of the federal government. Obama personally approved of the plan for Lew and Nabors to propose the sequester to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). They did so at 2:30 p.m. July 27, 2011, according to interviews with two senior White House aides who were directly involved." http://www.wash…
