By Tom Anderson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - Like a visit from your Uncle Charley, scheduled for a couple of weeks, now turned into months. The refrigerator cleaned of beer, the TV clicker worn to black, your car without gas, and cigarette butts now littering your lawn. This season has stayed too long. A ship’s visible manager and crew now turned into human dart boards, where no one bothers to pull out the darts. Have enough been thrown to keep them from scurrying around? How deep are the wounds? Someone cut them from the stakes, burning flesh is too much. The GM in a lifeboat gone fishing in a sea with no fish, and no bait. The few he landed all rotting …

With Hernandez likely out of the running due to today's performance, Darvish should be the frontrunner for the award. However, all people are talking about is Scherzer's wins like they're actually useful for evaluating a pitcher.

Interview conducted by David Saltzer, AngelsWin.com Senior Writer One pitcher who really opened some eyes during Spring Training this year was Victor Alcatara. Pronounced "all-KAWN-truh", he lit up the radar guns, hitting triple digits several times. This was partially how in only his second season of professional baseball, and at age 20, the Angels brought him straight to Orem rather than the AZL Angels club. With an arm like that, fans would think that Victor has been pitching for a long time. That's not the case with Victor. He came to the game late, so, there will be some struggles as he learns how to control his gift and masters the finer points of pitching. The…

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - SEPT. 4, 2002 GAME 138 - ANGELS AT DEVIL RAYS ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The first thing Adam Kennedy will do this afternoon when he walks into the Angels clubhouse at Tropicana Field is check the lineup. After all, a left-handed pitcher is starting for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and that usually has meant a seat on the bench for the left-handed-hitting second baseman. Kennedy, though, has rendered meaningless the statistical matchups game many managers play with a hot bat that continued to sizzle in the Angels' 4-2 victory before 10,161 fans. Kennedy went 3 for 4, scored two runs, drove in another, stole a base and played…

The Pirates won their 81st game last night. They endured 20 straight seasons finishing under .500. There will not be a 21st. I hope to see them beat Atlanta in a playoff series.

I think if you're Mike Trout you say - no. He has the potential of someone that can break the $30 million/yr. salary. If he signs a 10/$120 he loses money maybe in his arb. years. It's more understandable from the Angels perspective. They want to tie up their superstar for 10 years. Discuss

I guess I am the eternal optimist. A bunch of secondary players along with a few starters have won 8 out of the last 9 games. I honestly think with our core healthy and a few upgrades in the pitching department that we can be contenders next year. Sorry for being optimistic, but I think that we can bounce back next year.

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - SEPT. 3, 2002 GAME 137 - ANGELS AT DEVIL RAYS ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Angels manager Mike Scioscia sat in the dugout at Tropicana Field Tuesday afternoon and -- with a straight face -- said the Tampa Bay Devil Rays have played his Angels as tough as any team all season. Scioscia pointed out that though the Angels were 5-1 against them, three of those wins came by one run. It was a one-run game through five innings Tuesday night when the Angels broke it open with a five-run sixth en route to a 10-2 win before an announced crowd of 10,146 fans. With the win, the Angels moved to within 3 1/2 games of the idle Oakland A'…

By Geoff Stoddart, AngelsWin.com Director of Social Media - My kid’s new school schedule has me all jacked up. He just started middle school last week and the bus is picking him up at 6:43 am. (6:43 am!!!! WTH?!?! What kind of school board does something like that to parents … errrrr … I mean kids?!?!) So getting up with him at 5:45 am has my internal clock all out of whack. This morning I woke up at 4:40am and was trying to figure out what day it was. My internal dialog went something like this … “4:40 am, Cool, I still have an hour left to sleep. Wait … do I? What day is it? Oh, it’s Sunday. Sweet! I can go back to sleep for hours.â€ (…
