Mark Trumbo notched four extra-base hits, Josh Hamilton hit his 20th homer and the Angels racked up eight runs on 12 hits before Mark Buehrle could record his first out of the fifth, slugging their way to a 12-6 victory at Rogers Centre on Tuesday night. View the full article

Gammons was on MLB network a few hours ago and was doing his usual shtick. The bullet point he was discussing was that, even with all the questionable pitching moves, CJ Wilson was a good deal and Dipoto should be credited with the signing. As he was evaluating the rotation he said they are a young pitcher away from a respectable rotation, and almost as an aside, said dDipoto had such a deal at the deadline but it was "overruled". He didn't say who overruled it (the other team?) and he never followed up. Is this a story line that we know about? July seems like a long time ago so I can't remember if he was just reiterating a well-known fact, or trying to drop "insider kn…

Risers Taylor Lindsey Mark Sappington Mike Morin Zach Borenstein Alex Yarbrough Jeremy Berg Eric Stamets RJ Alvarez Michael Fish Eduar Lopez Jose Rondon Fallers Kaleb Cowart Randal Grichuk CJ Cron Travis Witherspoon Overall, a very disappointing year for our 'top prospects' outside of Lindsey. On the other hand, we had some nice breakthrough seasons from Morin, Sappington, Borenstein, Alvarez, and Yarbrough. This system is very dry in offensive talent, starting pitching, and catchers. There are some nice bullpen arms that can turn out to be quite nice though in Morin, Alvarez, Maronde, Chaffee, and Berg. The Angels went pitching heavy …

With 19 games left, Mike Trout is 21 hits away from reaching 200 -- and some rare company. The list of players who notched 200 hits in their age-21 season is currently only 10 deep. But it does not stop at 200 hits for Trout. View the full article

Don't get me wrong I, like all of you, love seeing the Angels win. But at this point in time winning does nothing but lower our draft pick. No matter how well the Angels play the team won't make the playoffs and either the gm or hc will be gone after the season. I'm not saying the team should tank It, but does winning even do anything at this point in time?

It should be 1A. Matt Garza or 1B Ricky Nolasco. Neither of them will cost draft picks since they were both traded mid season so it won't hurt them like Pujols, Wilson and Hamilton signings. Even if you have to overpay, the Angels NEED to sign one of them to fix their starting pitching for next year. Trade away Trumbo, Howie and Aybar to clear out salary if needed but one of the two pitchers need to be signed. There are other pitchers out there like AJ Burnett and Ervin Santana but they are more of a question mark in my opinion and they will cost you the draft pick.

Interview Conducted by David Saltzer, AngelsWin.com Senior Writer One of the players who generated a lot of buzz both with the Angels and with Angels fans is Jose Rondon. At just 19, he has shown advanced hitting and fielding skills while playing a premium position (SS). He has a good blend of power and speed, and an advanced understanding of the strike zone. Over the course of the season, he finished with a 30:31 BB:K ratio in 68 games. On the season, Rondon ranked in the top 10 for the Pioneer League in hits, doubles, walks, stolen bases and rbis. He hit almost the same at home as he did on the road (.294 vs. .293), and almost the same against righties as he hit ag…

Schedule should be out in a couple weeks. No matter what they do, west coast teams have it tougher, but six trips to Texas... again... is ridiculous. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9605783/mlb-west-coast-teams-face-unfair-travel-schedules

He drives in the tying run in the fifth inning and the go-ahead run in the seventh in a 6-3 victory for Minnesota. MINNEAPOLIS -- Staring down the wrong end of history, the Minnesota Twins would much rather have seen a pitcher other than Jered Weaver, who no-hit them in 2012 and dominated them most recently July 24. Angels went 4-3 this weekend and played spoiler against the Rangers at home. I think the team received good contributions from everyone. Pitching played a huge role in those wins. This poll will exclude pitching. My pick would be Erick Aybar but I'm a little bias went it comes to my favorite player. btw Aybar had 17 total bases with 6 runs & 4 rbi's and solid defense.

After Scherzer's 19 wins, the next best in the AL is 15 wins (3 pitchers). Verlander is one of only 2 pitchers with at least 24 wins since 2000. I remember 1990, when Bob Welch won 27 games and Dave Stewart won 22 for the same team (A's). Teams already had 5 man rotations by 1990.

Has anyone felt like this year's schedule was any different than others? Playing the NL throughout the year seems to have transitioned seamlessly. I actually prefer this to the old interleague schedule. I still think they need to make the DH rule universal. I bet it is coming within the next few years.
