unbelievable A Yankee getting honored at Fenway? Every team giving the guy gifts on his way out A fan favorite who blew a world series game 7, and that ALCS against Boston....most importantly forgiven and forgot by Yankee fans! is there any other ballplayer who got so much love on the final season?

Past 16 2/3 innings = 1 run, 9 hits, 23/3 Ks/BBs ratio, 0.72 WHIP, 0.60 ERA Now if only he could get a 2nd pitch to work well enough when the fastball goes through that "less movement/loss of control" stretch. I would definately rethink my "He can't be an upper tier closer" thought from earlier in the season. Having an experienced closer alongside him like the Beard in 2014 couldn't hurt. Look at what having Percy alongside him did for K-Rod.

"Romy's a shortstop, so obviously he has the range to be able to do something special like that. It was an incredible catch."

Andrew Romine came up with the defensive play of the game in Saturday's 6-2 win, robbing Astros catcher Carlos Corporan of a base hit in the sixth inning by making a diving catch with his back to the infield. View the full article

make it to .500 by game 162? They would have to go 9-4 in the last 13 games. They have been playing well down the stretch and I was just curious what you all think. I guess I should say I understand that it doesn't matter because its playoffs or bust, but I still would prefer to be at least .500 to end the season.

Maybe I should offer this as a weekly blog next year? What do you think, Chuck? Anyhow, Trout's fWAR is steady at 10.0, up 0.2. He's been in a bit of a slump over the last nine games - with only five hits, going 5-28 (.179 BA). But during that time he's walked 14 times (!), which has led to this rather crazy triple-slash line (over the last nine games): .179/.452/.250 In other words, despite the fact that he's been slumping - only hitting .179 with 2 extra base hits, both doubles - Trout's OBP has actually gone up. Furthermore, in his last three games he's been hitless (0-8), but due to walking 6 times he's gotten on base at a .429 clip. He manages t…

Mike Trout just earned his 100th walk of the season, becoming only the 6th Angel to do so. Here is the all-time list for Angels: 1. Tony Phillips 113 (1995) 2. Troy Glaus 112 (2000) 3. Troy Glaus 107 (2001) 4. Brian Downing 106 (1987) 5. Tim Salmon 104 (2000) 6. Chone Figgins 101 (2009) 7. Mike Trout 100 (2013) 8t. Albie Pearson 96 (1961) 8t. Tim Salmon 96 (2001) 10t. Albie Pearson 95 (1962) 10t. Tim Salmon 95 (1997) In the second half this year, Trout has 53 walks in 53 games, so with 13 games to go after today's game he's got a chance of breaking Phillips' record. If not this year then he'll probably do it at some point, as I don't see his walk rate dr…

Halos are a disgrace to MLB. Dominguez is mediocre against most teams, but not against this team. WTF are you going to do about it in 2014? I want annihilation in 2014.

Very nice quality start/ outing by Jerome Williams today against Houston at Houston. Still, however, I still pretty much see him as a 4-A type sixth starter for us next season if he remains with the Halos. Williams has had some good starts for the Halos this year and has even put together a short string of consecutive good starts. But he's been very inconsistent. He's a decent back (way back) of the rotation guy, long relief pen guy at a very reasonable contract price -- but I really don't see him as much more than that for the Halos. If he's our fifth starter as the team breaks camp in 2014, we're headed to more of the same (of the 2013 season). W…

We know this season has been a huge disappointment and everyone has ideas and plans to correct the team's performance. Remember these are opinions and suggestions. There is no need to call someone an idiot or other names. Can you pretend you are face to face with someone with whom you are arguing/discussing something? We (as mods) get more and more complaints for some members posting here that has crossed the line of being considerate.

Pitcher Masahiro Tanaka sets Japanese baseball record with 21 consecutive wins He's becoming a more and more intriguing option. And the reason why he might be posted after this season, since he has like 3 years left till FA'cy, is that MLB is thinking of changing the posting procedures where the player gets a portion of the posting fee. He's 24 years old right now. It's just money, won't cost us draft picks, and we don't need to trade anyone.

Trumbo & Arizona 1 2

Diamondbacks GM Kevin Towers is interested in acquiring a "prototypical, corner bat" in the coming offseason, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic recently reported. Towers says he is looking for a third baseman or corner outfielder to provide pop in the middle of the lineup alongside young star Paul Goldschmidt. There is one other obvious possibility: Mark Trumbo of the Angels. He is young, capable of playing all of the corner spots defensively, unquestionably powerful, and entering his first year of arbitration eligibility. Sure, he comes with questionable defense and concerning strikeout totals, but he has averaged over thirty bombs over the last three years. While Tr…
