Tonight's scheduled M's vs. A's game was postponed because Oakland didn't put a tarp on their field and then it rained. The field became an absolute mess and the M's front office is ticked off at the A's. This is ridiculous. Told they didn’t get the tarp on the infield earlier when it rained and it is a mess. pic.twitter.com/DzhhYnxuJz — Shannon Drayer (@shannondrayer) April 5, 2014 The ground here at O.co is wet. For some reason, they didn’t tarp the field last night and it rained. They did tarp it today when it rained — Ryan Divish (@RyanDivish) April 5, 2014 Shit hole stadium and shit grounds crew.

I am not one that typically blames coaches for the failures of players on the field.. guys are either going to produce or not produce and typically the coaches aside from adjustments and such arent going ot have a giant affect on that. However... there is one thing the coaches have a huge affect on, and that is the fact that they are the team leaders. The players need to have faith in them to take them at their word, and that those adjustments will be positive. I am deeply concerned that the players on our team have lost that faith in the coaching staff. When you start to see the public comments, questions moves, and seeing far too many guys perform better after …

Got in touch with Tim Mead and he said the following about Baylor. "Saw him this morning and he is doing very well. Good smile and optimistic." As far as his ETA to the Angels. Way to early to project right now. Like Don, we will remain patient with the doctor's directions and guidance."

Angels shortstop prospect Jose Rondon has been assigned to High-A Inland Empire. The Angels are having Rondon skip Low-A to send him to High-A after hitting a respectable .293/.359/.399 as a 19-year old in rookie level in 2013. He will play in one of the most offense-friendly ballparks in one of the most offense-friendly leagues, so he could put up huge numbers, causing his prospect status to proliferate. Watch him closely, as he could end the season in Double-A with a strong showing.

Baylor breaks his leg on opening season celebrity pitch. Timely hitting by the Angels. Pujols and Hamilton are off to their usual fast starts of leaving a ton of players on base. The bottom of the batting order is non existant. Trout is the only spark on the team with his efforts being wasted. Then to our great pitching staff. Our starters end up throwing 100 pitches by the 5th inning, struggling to get ahead of batters in the count in the 1st 5 innings. Then our bullepin comes in a gets shalacked , with their usual can't hold the lead and having our BP get worn out within the 1st week. Off to a promising nice start angel fans. We should be used to this after the prev…

The Mariners have signed lefty Clay Rapada and added him to the roster at Triple-A Tacoma, according to Rainiers announce Mike Curto (on Twitter). Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune first reported (via Twitter) that Rapada was working out for the team. The left-hander has a 4.06 ERA in 94 big league innings but has never been able to hold down a consistent big league job despite dominant numbers against left-handed hitters; Rapada has held lefties to a minuscule .164/.255/.231 batting line in his career. However, righties have roughed him up at a .345/.464/.611 clip. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/04/raul-valdes-hiroyuki-nakajima-outrighted.html

By David Saltzer, AngelsWin.com Senior Writer Growing up, my dad had a poem posted in the house. It was his favorite. Though I really didn’t understand it as a child, I knew it meant something to my dad, so I read it and reread it until I mostly had it memorized. Now, as an adult, I am glad he had it up in the house. It’s taught me a lot and given me the wisdom to know what to do and when to do it. The words in the poem apply today as much as they did when they were first written. The Angels did not start the season off the way that any of us wanted. They have not played well. Compared to their Spring Training, they were underwhelming. After winning 10 out of th…

The Angels compile data in a new-age approach to the issue of positioning fielders where the ball is most likely to be hit. It's 'far more shading than shifting,' Manager Mike Scioscia says. As the Angels prepared for the 2002 World Series, bench coach Joe Maddon looked at the spray charts and came to a radical conclusion: If the Angels wanted to align their defense based on where Barry Bonds most commonly hit the ball, they should play three infielders and four outfielders.
