How many time have they had runners reach third with less than two outs and not converted. Both Calhoun and Trumbo K'd on pitches out of the strike zone in the ninth tonight and in Trumbo's case the ball was at cap level. He has never learned the strike zone.

On a team with Mike Trout and Peter Bourjos -- when healthy -- there's very little need for Josh Hamilton to ever play center field. But Angels manager Mike Scioscia said he has no problems throwing him out there at any time, particularly in a place as familiar to him as Rangers Ballpark. View the full article

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/09/26/johnny-hellweg-posts-worst-kbb-ratio-in-over-30-years/ Worst K/BB ratio in at least 30 innings since Mike Morgan in 1979. Hellweg put up a borderline mindboggling 9/26 K/BB ratio. That's not a typo. 9 strikeouts, 26 walks in 30 innings. Also hit 8 batters and threw 4 wild pitches in those 30 innings.

https://twitter.com/KNegandhiESPN/statuses/383218028160503808 Good luck with that Robbie. Frankly I would be surprised of he lands more than $200 million. Signing players who are more than 31 past their age 36 season hasn't exactly been proven to be a competent strategy.

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - SEPT. 27, 2002 GAME 160 - MARINERS AT ANGELS ANAHEIM – Still riding the high of clinching a playoff spot on Thursday, the Angels faced the Seattle Mariners Friday night with a lineup that manager Mike Scioscia might have lifted from his spring training files. Regular starters David Eckstein, Darin Erstad, Tim Salmon, Scott Spiezio and Bengie Molina got a view from the bench as the Mariners beat the Angels on Edgar Martinez's 12th-inning homer, 7-6, before a sellout crowd of 43,452 at Edison Field. ``We're going to give most guys a chance to rest,'' Scioscia said. ``We want to try to keep an edge. It's been a gruelin…

http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-angels-mike-trout-trade-20130925,0,3204392.story#axzz2g0jqzqRe "Mike is a terrific player and obviously we're thrilled with his contributions both on the field and off," Angels General Manager Jerry Dipoto told The Times. "He has made a tremendous impact on this organization over the last two seasons and will continue to be a core member of our roster as we move forward." That could leave room for interpretation, so would Dipoto simply say the Angels are not interested in trading Trout? "No problem," Dipoto said. "We have no interest in trading Mike Trout." Trout, 22, is not eligible for salary arbitration un…

by Glen McKee, AngelsWin.com Columnist & Satirist - In a handful of days Angels baseball will be over for 2103. It’s a semantic distinction; meaningful Angels baseball has been over for at least a month now, and posters on Angelswin.com have been reduced to arguing about Cowgill versus Shuck in the starting lineup, why Calhoun wasn’t starting every day, and what the team can do to make 2014 not be like 2013 or 2012, or 2011. Or even 2010. The offseason is dead ahead, and I for one don’t know what I’m going to do when the last pitch of Angels baseball in 2013 is thrown this Sunday in Arlington Stadium (hopefully knocking the Rangers out of the playoffs). …

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - SEPT. 26, 2002 GAME 159 - ANGELS AT RANGERS ARLINGTON, Texas – Subdued, it wasn't. The Angels had suffered through too many dismal Septembers to celebrate quietly, so when they got back to their clubhouse following their 10-5 victory over the Texas Rangers Thursday afternoon at The Ballpark in Arlington, it was ``game on,'' as center fielder Darin Erstad put it. The win put the Angels in the playoffs for the first time since 1986, a playoff drought surpassed only by Montreal (1981), Milwaukee (1982) and Kansas City (1985). Because Oakland beat Seattle on Thursday, the A's clinched the American League West. The Ange…

I don't care whether we finish at, above, or below .500. What I do care about is being the spoiler and keeping Texas off the field. Particularly if we can do it on the last game, and Kinsler makes the last out so we can tell him to get the **** off our field and go home. Who is with me?

Dude is on fire ! If it wasn't for a one at bat game he would have a 17 game hitting streak right now. Regardless of him not making spectacular plays every game or having spectacular hits, he PRODUCES every single game. Aside from his hits, he has some pop and is an RBI machine. What do you guys think, what's his ceiling? Even though he only ha 150 + ab's his numbers are resembling his minor league numbers, so he should have a great upside right? Where will he fit in the lineup this year and how expendable are Bourjous, Trumbo, or even himself?

Last offseason, Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton started a natural-juice diet -- or "lifestyle change," as he calls it -- and entered camp at an estimated 227 pounds, roughly 20 pounds lighter than normal. For next year, he's scrapping that. View the full article
