With his 26th homer today, Mike Trout now is on pace for an even more legendary season than he was already putting together. He can potentially finish 2013 with this stat line. .330+/.440+/.575+ 1.000+ OPS 200 H, 10 3B, 40 2B, 30 HR, 30+ SB, 100 RBI, 100 BB, 110+ R Take a moment and let this sink in. That has NEVER happened before in MLB history.

Flip that bitch and the Angels are leading the WC race. 9-21 v. Tex and Oakland is awful, but 18-17 against Houston and Seattle is just as bad.

One hit in his last five games (1-14, .071 BA). Dude sucks. Of course he's walked 9 times, so his OBP is .435. But I'm wondering if he's finally tiring - last year he was comparatively sluggish the last couple months, so maybe we're finally seeing that with a couple weeks left. Hopefully he can turn things around so that his BA stays above .330 for the year.

Ernesto Frieri has become a master of the multi-inning save, whether or not his manager likes it. The Angels closer has converted seven, including a six-out save against the Astros on Sunday. That easily leads the Majors. View the full article

Grant Green's exposure to third base at the Major League level will have to wait until at least next season. Green, facing the team that drafted him four years ago, started at second base for the Angels on Wednesday, but isn't expected to get much more time there now that Howie Kendrick is back from the disabled list. By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Contributor - Sigh, the offseason is near. What a bitter disappointment this year was, without a doubt. Missed opportunities abound mixed with some signs of hope. Just not nearly enough to get us into the playoffs that have been absent from our lives since 2009. However, just as every October ends, a new April is shortly around the corner. The time in between can really make a difference in the look, feel, and confidence of a team and can dramatically improve or degrade a team’s chances of success in the following season. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the Angels, their current state, and where we hope they will…

Sort of. Love this kid. I say, let him play center if that makes him happy - let's not give him another reason to be enticed by going elsewhere.

Mike Trout has a chance to post a second straight season with a Wins Above Replacement rating of 10-plus, which would put him in group that includes only Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Rogers Hornsby, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Willie May and Barry Bonds. View the full article

Trout 4 MVP 1 2

Why Mike Trout is the MVP Before the year started, many “expertsâ€ predicted Trout to regress in 2013 after winning Rookie of the Year and coming 2nd in the MVP voting in 2012. I can’t say I blamed them at the time. Too many times in the last few years, I have watched the top prospects in baseball burst onto the scene and then flame out in the following seasons. Jason Heyward comes to mind. He was the Braves phenom who homered in his first at bat and was barely edged out for Rookie of the Year by Buster Posey. He hit .277 with an .849 OPS as a 20 year old in his first year in the majors. Since then he has yet to break a .270 batting average and only hit over an .800…

A's win the game with Josh Donaldson's two-out, walk-off single in the ninth. Angels' Garrett Richards pitches a strong seven innings. OAKLAND — The Angels can't come close to matching the Oakland Athletics in volume of talented young starting pitchers, but in Garrett Richards, they have an arm that can cut into the deficit. He doesn't throw quite as hard as you ideally like to see in the new model of Jepsen, but he should do just fine.

Mike Trout went deep in the first inning to become the first player in American League history with 25 homers, 30 steals and 100 walks, but the Angels were shut down after that and took a 2-1 loss despite a solid effort from Garrett Richards on Tuesday night in Oakland. View the full article

Starting pitching is good with Weaver, Wilson, Richards, Vargas, and whatever pitcher as long as it isn't Blanton or Hanson. Pick up a Paul Byrd type for cheap and now you have a good enough starting staff to compete. Bullpen: Got some decent work out of De La Rosa, Kohn, and Frieri. You get two more reliable through FA signing or trade. And, you assume that one of the guys in the farm steps up and takes a spot. And, there you go. Shutdown bullpen. Offernse: I expect big things from an offense with Trout, a healthy Pujols, a Hamilton with a bounce back year, a consistent power threat in Trumbo, Howie, and a promising up-and-comer in Calhoun. If the te…

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - SEPT. 17, 2002 GAME 151 - ANGELS AT A’S OAKLAND – As he strutted off the field after getting the last out in the eighth inning Tuesday night, Angels pitcher Jarrod Washburn glared into the dugout and said, ``Give it to me.'' The ``it'' Washburn was referring to was the baseball for the ninth inning. Washburn, working on three-days rest for the first time in his major league career, was in a zone, much like the one Oakland A's starter Mark Mulder was in. The two matched each other inning-for-inning, putting up one zero after another. Mulder tied a career high with 12 strikeouts. Washburn didn't allow a hit after …

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - SEPT. 15, 2002 GAME 149 - RANGERS AT ANGELS ANAHEIM – Watching the Texas Rangers score five runs in the first inning one day earlier must have given the Angels an idea. The Angels scored five runs of their won and went on to an easy 13-4 victory before 33,445 at Edison field, their sixth win in a row. And more importantly, the win moved the Angels one game ahead of Oakland in the A.L. West, the first time all season the Angels have held sole possession of the division’s top spot. The Angels had 11 hits in the game, but the big bat belonged to Troy Glaus, who hit three home runs – Nos. 25, 26 and 27 – to put …

Trout, obviously, isn't going anywhere - neither is Pujols or Hamilton. That's clear enough. That's two OF and one 1B or DH spot, so we've got two spots left and three players: Trumbo, Bourjos, and Calhoun. I've heard lots of different opinions about who the Angels should trade. I personally think the Angels should field offers for Trumbo but keep Bourjos and Calhoun. I really want to see a full year from Bourjos and Trout in the OF. Calhoun has more potential value than trade value so should be kept. Plus I just like him a lot - I think he could surprise and be a solidly above average player, maybe even a borderline star. He belongs on this team, not as a trade chip.…

Angels have a scout in Japan to look at right-hander Masahiro Tanaka, who some project as a No. 2 or No. 3 starter in the major leagues. OAKLAND — The Angels' pursuit of pitching this winter will likely extend to the Far East, where a significant rotation boost could be acquired without having to trade players such as Mark Trumbo or Howie Kendrick. "As another dismal season winds down for the Miami Marlins, owner Jeffrey Loria has taken over as the decision maker for the majority -- and perhaps all -- of the team's baseball matters, according to the Miami Herald. That would seem to put the futures of president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest and team president David Samson in jeopardy for next season." What about Beinfest for president of BO/GM if he's to become available after the season? He was born and raised in the Valley and I'm sure would jump at the chance to come back to SoCal if the Angels were to make an offer. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9683233/miami-marlins-owner-jeffrey-lori…
