Right-hander gives up seven runs and 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings in 11-4 loss, running his record to 0-7 and earned-run average to 6.46.

The Angels are 10 games out of first place. They have not been so far behind so early in a season since 2001. View the full article

He picked up his 1,000th career strike out tonight. Congrats on the career milestone. Awesome job, Joe!

Joe missed a location or two. All in all he really didn't pitch all that badly, and he certainly pitched better than the stats indicated. The ball was comin' out of his hand well, unfortunately a couple of guys managed to get some wood on the ball. Joe's gonna work down in the pen between games with Butch, they'll work on some things and get him where he needs to be. Joe has had some bad luck issues and some flies in the ointment, due to the scheduling and whatnot he's pitched against a lot of other teams' ace pitchers. Otherwise, he's eatin' some innings up for us. This is just one of those nights when the plate didn't align, and you just gotta tip your cap to the other …

Joe Blanton vs Luis Mendoza Worst matchup that we will see this year? You have Blanton who's is 0-6 in 7 starts with a 5.66 era in 41.1 innings and only 22Ks. Then you have Mendoza who is 0-2 in 5 apprences 4 of then being starts with a 6.38 era. Should be fun tonight.

Had a nice year with the Pirates in 1935...18-13, 2.58 ERA, 1.081 WHIP. Unfortunately, he died in 1945, so I guess we're stuck with Joe. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/blantcy01.shtml

According to Roger Lodge, the Angels are going to go on a 15-6 stretch and get to .500 at the 58 game mark. Although I would love to see it happen, I see absolutely no evidence that this team is capable of a run like that.

How long can we keep Blanton is the roation. Now his record will be 0-7 and era over 6. Scioscia time to cut the cord baby. What does this guy have to do to lose his spot in the rotation.

Even though his offensive statistics have picked up considerably since replacing the injured Bourjos in center field, Trout ultimately is headed back to left field according to the team's plans.

Since Mike Trout returned to center field, he has resembled the dominant offensive force he was last year. However, when center fielder Peter Bourjos returns from the disabled list, the Angels plan to return Trout to left field. View the full article

Because I know everyone is vitally concerned with Trout's WAR, here's an update. He keeps on creeping up the rankings - is now (as of 5/13) 7th in the majors with a 1.9 fWAR, ahead of Justin Upton (1.8) and Bryce Harper (1.6). Actually, the fWAR rankings are quite interesting this year - with lots of surprise names and young players. Carlos Gomez is still #1 with 2.7, and the top 10 includes players like Manny Machado, Jean Segura, Starling Marte, and Carlos Santana.

In fact, Kyle Johnson he has more stolen bases than speedster phenom Billy Hamilton (18) on the young minor league season. As some of you may know, Billy Hamilton stole 155 bases in 2012. Back to Kyle Johnson. He's hitting. .337 with a .448 OBP. Looks like the Angels may have a future leadoff hitter in the fold with a ton of speed, who also masters the art of using his wheels in successful stolen base attempts. In Johnson's brief season in Orem last year, he wasn't caught either, stealing seven bases -- giving him 28 straight stolen base attempts. Phenomenal. Here's Kyle Johnson, as we meet up with him last season while in Orem.
