Hey Ducks fans, the Angels have sucked so far, but the other team in Anaheim hasn't. Feel free to use the Chat room if you so desire for real time talk during the game. http://www.angelswin-forum.com/forums/chat/

I know there are probably some stats that back this up. I have not seen a bigger choker and mental midget in all of baseball.

The Angels got another solid outing from Joe Blanton on Wednesday night, but they did almost nothing against a crazy-efficient Bud Norris and lost their second straight game to the last-place Astros, 3-1. View the full article

Albert Pujols understands that speculation that comes whenever a high-priced team with World Series aspirations struggles, but the Angels slugger said Wednesday that any talk about the job security of manager Mike Scioscia is completely without merit. View the full article

Sometimes you just run into a buzz saw. The way the ball was comin' out of Norris's hand, there was just not much we could do. He kept our guys off balance all night. Guys started making adjustments as the game went on, but it is just one of those games that you just gotta tip your cap to the pitcher and move forward. Epsy is gonna be goin' over some tape and workin' on some swings with guys to get them to where they need to be. We started to pressure the kid, but he just made the adjustments a tad faster than we did. We'll get this thing goin' and it will be a beautiful thing to watch. Right now a couple of guys are pressin' a bit, but these guys are professionals - they…

This is getting ugly. I am not really saying this is Scioscia's fault. Some pretty bad/slow baserunners on this team but the double plays are out of control.

I wanted to start a discussion centered around Hamilton, his previous Alcohol issues, and how this dynamic might affect team chemistry. For example, after a game, a bunch of the guys might want to go out and grab a beer and blow off some steam. I'm sure this happens fairly often on MLB teams. If I were part of that team it would make me uncomfortable to drink alcohol around Hamilton. I would choose not to drink around him as a show of support. Does anyone know how this was handled in Texas? I know when they won various playoffs and divisions they would not have alcohol as part of the celebration. I'm not trying to make any relationship between Hamilton's slump or the …

EOB9 and I were discussing Iannetta as a defensive catcher last night. I just wanted to put these stats out there to support that I believe Iannetta is an average-below average defensive catcher. Catchers being compared had over 600 innings caught over the course of last season and the beginning of this season. Iannetta has caught 839 innings while with the Angels over this period. There were 37 catchers that met the criteria. Stats were compiled using Fan Graphs at this link: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=c&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=600&type=1&season=2013&month=0&season1=2012&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&pl…

Another 0-4 with 2 K's. He's now hitting .202 and he's not showing any signs of improving. I think he needs to allow the Angels to ship him down to AAA to work on things.

Rehabbing Angels reliever Ryan Madson spent a few years in Philadelphia with J.A. Happ. And like everyone else, he was concerned when a line drive from the Rays' Desmond Jennings hit the Blue Jays left-hander on the side of the head. View the full article

It's feast or famine with that team assembled on the field right now, a lot of power but striking out. Trumbo's stock is considerably up, yet he SO's a lot himself. If this team is to keep Scioscia, then they would have to shake off the top, while Trumbo is presently that most valuable chip for them to leverage upon. Otherwise, if the Angels are dump Scioscia, then the feast or famine dilemma persists, and that spells inconsistency as we're seeing now. They found the Padres a trading partner last year and they might, as well, find them again this year. They need a guy who can hit for avg, hardly striking out, in order for the team to make it more difficult on…

"We’re giving 100-percent effort, and that’s all we can do. We could try to be more studious, maybe sacrifice a live goat or chicken, maybe get a pin-cushion out or something. We’re losing a lot of one-run games, but the pitching staff is getting supported by the offense, the offense is scoring enough runs. Sometimes it’s the big inning. Sometimes it’s a lot of little things. http://aldengonzalez.mlblogs.com/2013/05/07/the-other-11-21-angels/

Going into the season we knew our pitching was shaky and we couldn't afford any injuries. We knew that there was no way Weaver could go down and we could stay competetive, we knew CJ Wilson couldn't pitch the way he is pitching, we knew Blanton couldn't totally suck, and we knew we couldn't have Tommy Hanson throwing 87-88 mph fastballs. On the offensive side we thought we had a powerhouse, every big name in our line up has failed miserably except Trumbo and Bourjos, we are supposed to have 3 of the best players in the game in Pujols, Hamilton and Trout and they all have let us down. We all knew we had issues in our bullpen and didnt have the depth to recover from injurie…

just speaking hypothetically . . . let's say Pujols continues to be ravaged by injuries for the next 2-3 years and basically falls apart. Now let's say he's true to his word and walks away from the game - are the Angels off the hook if he retires before his contract is up?

The Angels this season have already kicked in the "IDGAF" and it has helped. It has allowed me to focus on the things that really matter, like life. Thank you, 2013 Angels. P.S. - IDGAF = "I Don't Give A F***"

MLB Hall of Fame has added a database for old scouting reports. Truly amazing to see scouts' opinions of players http://scouts.baseballhall.org/ Jim Edmonds scouting report from HS called him an indulged child who's off field habits needed to improve. Talk about being able to spot something. Pretty amazing stuff, it's really neat to see how different scouts in different organizations viewed players. Given the horrible state of Angels baseball, you guys may enjoy the detour.

So I know this team sucks and everything but I'm still down to get together with a bunch of Angels fans and board posters to bitch about the season, play some softball, and have a kick-ass potluck. Any rumors about this yet, Chuck?

Good and painful read on everything that's been wrong so far(spoiler: nearly everything) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=20493 Bullpen The Angels have used 14 relievers, which is already absurd, and seven of those relievers have ERAs of 9 or higher, which is also absurd. They have used Michael Roth, who was a ninth-round pick 11 months ago. They have used Ryan Brasier, who has a 4.74 ERA in parts of three seasons as a Triple-A reliever, and who is right-handed. They have used Barry Enright, who was called up despite a 9.61 ERA (nine homers!) in 20 innings at Salt Lake. There are reasons for using this many pitchers that are out of the Angel…

As I read the board Albert barely gets a mention anymore as all comments seem to involve Hamilton. Just looking for thoughts as to if Albert is on a fast decline or if we now have a 270 kind of BA, about 20 HR and 90 RBI guy for the next two to three years? After that it appears to be the free fall zone.

Even though the upper tier of Halos hitting prospects have come out of the gate with a whimper namely Cowart, Lindsey, Witherspoon, Grichuk, there are a bunch of lower level arms that have been impressive so far. Anyone with some info on the following guys would be much appreciated Class A Scoggins, Diaz, Crowley, Efferson, Keudell, Krehbeil, Boyd, Spomer Class High A Morin, Cendejas, Powell (guys we know about Kelley, Wood, Sappington)

Said going into tonight Conger had a better CERA than Iannetta. Added that CERA is important to Scioscia.

1. When was the last time he got thrown out of a game? Because maybe if he did that a little more the team would rally around it. 2. Why does he agree with everything an umpire tells him? He just walked away from the field once they made the call a second time. Why doesn't he argue a little more? 3. We are losing to the Astros.
