Question was asked in the over/under part of the show if they thought Trout, Pujols and Hamilton would combine to hit over 100 Home runs this year. Tony said they are on pace for 75 right now, but said we know Pujols is going to hit atleast 35. Doesn't know about Hamilton and says he's really struggling (duh). Doesn't know if Trout can hit 36, too small of a sample size and said they would finish under the 100 home run mark. Wilbon predicted they would finish slightly over. Thinks Pujols is going to get to 38-39. Hamilton will find his numbers because thats what veteran players do, he'll get to 35. And agreed with Tony, saying Trout is the wildcard. Just figured id po…

Texas widens their lead in the AL West with a win over the A's. The Houston Astros picked up their first win of the season-series against Detroit. Game ended on a spectacular catch in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded. Raul Ibanez just hit a 1 out grand slam in the 1st inning at Yankee Stadium to break the game open early with a 6-0 lead. Later this evening Greinke returns nearly a month ahead of schedule to pitch for the Dodgers.

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - MAY 15, 2002 GAME 38 - ANGELS DETROIT -- The streaking Angels won again Wednesday, routing the hapless Detroit Tigers, 10-1, before 12,314 at Comerica Park. Yes, the Tigers are a bad team, owners of the worst record in baseball. Tigers right fielder Robert Fick said if he was a paying fan, he'd probably ''throw up.'' But the Angels aren't about to feel sorry for anybody. That was them early in the season, when they lost 14 of their first 20 games. Since then, they've won 16 of 18, the best 18-game stretch in franchise history, including the last seven in a row. At 22-16, the Angels are six games over .500 for the f…

Haren pitched well. He got in trouble in the third inning with a hit batter and a wild pitch, but otherwise was pretty good. He couldn't overcome Clayton Kershaw however. Final score, 2-0 Dodgers at the Ravine. Over 51,000 paid attendance on a Tuesday evening.

Why would we not put Vargas in Blanton's 3 spot? Is the reason because we'd have two lefties going consecutively? I say do it.

were having some fun last night at the Angels' expense. (I am only going w what I was reading from game thread comments last night). Good on them. I was one of the few who liked Phys. I only disliked him in the crappy years, because he had to be a Company Man apologist ("Tim Belcher isn't having the best season, but he's a GREAT influence for the young guys"). But when the Angels were rolling, I liked Phys. I understand the criticisms, but I enjoyed his pbp. The hiring of Hud, and replacing with Goob, is one of those complete dunderheaded moves that Arte makes which makes no sense. Nobody likes a three and a half hour little league coaching lesson every ni…

I have heard a lot of people calling him and out and I really just don't get it. I would love to hear what the people here would have done. He didn't have a lot to work with, but I thought he did great with what he did have and the players just aren't performing. Here is how I see it: Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols: Everyone loved these deals. We all understood that they might not be incredible for the full length of the contracts, but we were excited for a few years of great hitters. They haven't performed. Did anyone here know that they would hit like this to start off their Angel careers? I doubt it. Plus we all know Moreno had some control over this anyways. …

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor - MAY 14, 2002 GAME 37 - ANGELS AT TIGERS DETROIT -- Told the Seattle Mariners had lost Tuesday night, Angels manager Mike Scioscia responded: ''Did they? I didn't see.'' That's the mindset Scioscia is preaching to his club, 9-2 winners over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday before 12,745 at Comerica Park. Coupled with the Mariners' loss to the Blue Jays, the Angels are 4 1/2 games out in the A.L. West, the closest they've been since April 12. The Angels have won six in a row and 15 of their past 17, matching the best 17-game stretch in club history (June 1-17 1998). But Scioscia says his players aren't patting themselves o…
