Sunday started early, what with my alarm going off at 4:15am. Although I didn’t get an upper deck seat on the next day’s Air France flight back to LAX, I did get a coveted aisle seat. I prefer the aisle on return flights when headed westbound since it tends to be all daylight and the masses in coach are a lot more restless. It’s hard to get any rest so you might as well have easy access to the WC and walkabouts to the galley. I went back to sleep and woke up well rested. Good thing too because I me and my friend had work to do. This would be the last day of the Tour de France and we had plans to watch the pelaton make its way to the Arc de Triomphe. Thr…

I have followed these guys since the mid-1970s, saw my first live show in 1999 and have been to probably 30 shows since. The band has announced that their longest-tenured lead singer ever, Larry Braggs, is leaving the band at the end of 2013 after 14 years as their front man. He won't be easy to replace. IMO he has the range, the stage presence and the talent that has allowed them to open their entire catalog of 45 years of performing and perform pretty much anything in it. Not all of their lead guys have been able to pull this off. Their last trip through Vegas before he leaves will be October 25-27, and they have several performances in California before the end of the …

The heat rose faster than the sun on this particular Parisian Saturday. I woke up with my shirt clinging to my back and the noise of the street already in full force. It was 10:30am. I needed that. I had set my alarm for 4:15am this morning; a grave mistake. Air France, presumably because it’s French and contrarian, requires you to check in 30 hours before your flight. Not 24 hours. 30. And because I have always been terrible at math, I was off an entire day for my check-in. I wasn’t leaving Paris until Monday. But the early wake-up kind of re-set my internal clock and I lay in the bed like a soaked baguette, my body and mind relishing the sleep. My…

My band played the fundraiser for the Prescott firefighters that were killed on June 30 - it was a wonderful event to be a part of - anyway to our surprise Jon Voight came and made a short speech - but before he did he came onto the stage where I was standing setting up my gear . He shook my hand and said " you did a great job today " although I had yet to play a note - ill take it as a pre compliment - ha

Busy weekend, so I'm putting Friday up for now and will try to get to the rest of it (and more exciting parts I might add), in the next day or so. I didn’t sleep much during the week, what with the apartment being located on a busy side street full of cafes and bars. And a heavy heat set on the city making for some restless nights. Paris moves both fast and slow at once. If you try to slow down, Paris will fool you and come alive before you. If you try to speed up, the city will flip it on you and insist you enjoy the cafe culture. The pattern outside my bedroom window went something like this: street cleaning around 9am. Loud. Delivery trucks dropping …

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=106907 In a rather unexpected announcement, Deadline is reporting that a spinoff of the hit Rocky franchise is in the works with the Fruitvale Station team of writer-director Ryan Coogler and leading man Michael B. Jordan. Titled Creed, the new film will follow the grandson of Apollo Creed.

http://news.yahoo.com/zimmerman-protesters-raid-la-store-stop-freeway-072536291.html I just think it's sad that they are beginning to resort to this. I'm not that far away from that area. And the Black Community had a stigma about them and no national chains would want to service that area. It took a lot of convincing, and guys like Magic Johnson to really step up and bring national chains like Wal Mart, TGI Fridays, fast food places, etc there. And now a few bad apples are again making the community look bad again. I was there a few months ago, at a Sears getting my battery changed. There just happened to be a farmers market going on in the parking lo…

I'm looking for a high-quality indie rock channel. By high-quality I'm referring primarily to the quality of the stream, but also the content. For example, listen to the KROQ2 channel on tunein.com. For me that's a really good internet channel. I'm sure many of you listen to internet radio, so please give me your suggestions. Thx.

PORTLAND, Ore. - A toddler playing with her father's smart phone managed to buy a 1962 Austin Healey Sprite on eBay, according to video from a CNN affiliate KOIN. Paul Stoute says 14-month-old Sorella was playing with en eBay app when she bought the car for $225, and he didn't even realize it until he received an email congratulating him on his purchase. The family is keeping the car, Stoute said, adding that he plans to restore it for her high-school graduation or 16th birthday. "I've done a lot of work in the past, like bondo and stuff like that, but this is another realm altogether," he said. "I'm just glad she didn't buy the $38,000 Porsche I was looking a…

So I wasn’t always Chuck Richter. My mom remarried when I was young and I adopted my step dad's last name of ‘Holmes’ from the age of 4 years old to 18. When I turned 18 I changed my last name to my blood dad’s last name of Richter, out of respect to him. Note: my step dad was awesome and I regard him as my dad today, but my real dad was awesome too. Anyhow, in High School my name that I went by primarily was ‘Charlie Holmes’. One day, new semester, new class, junior year, new kids to get familiarized with and the first roll call. Just to back up a bit, I lived in So. Cal (Riverside, CA) and there was some Mexican gang bangers in this particular class. Back i…
