They lose, 5-2, ending winning streak against the Tigers at 10 games and Mike Trout strikes out four times. DETROIT -- Saturday was not a good day for the Angels, who got a leadoff home run from J.B. Shuck and nothing else against Detroit co-ace Max Scherzer in a 5-2 loss that ended their improbable winning streak over the Tigers at 10 games dating to September 2012. View the full article

I'm a big anti-Sosh guy, that's no surprise. But I've always acknowledged that he's a very intelligent manager. I just think his voice doesn't carry much weight with Albert and some of the others, and I think he's lost the pitching staff. Having said that, I think with the new replay and challenge system, he will be one of the best, if not the best at making the best of his opportunity to challenge the calls. Great job by Mike on that SB. A single could have put us right back in the game. Keep up the good work while we have you Mike.

Replay overturned the original call that third baseman Ian Stewart had tagged Miguel Cabrera out, and another review led to another out call overturned the next inning. Stewart was originally ruled out trying to steal second base with two outs on Max Scherzer, but replay showed Stewart sliding in ahead of the tag. View the full article

For at least three weeks, the Zetas-backed gangsters held Puig, Despaigne and the others at a seedy boarding house while they tried to negotiate with Pacheco and others for payment. If they didn’t get it, they told their captives, they would hack off one of the outfielder’s arms with a machete. http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/sports/2014/04/17/yasiel-puig-was-held-captive-by-smugglers-with-zetas-connection-after-fleeing/

By Adam Dodge, AngelsWin.com Senior Columnist - Following the Angels' thrilling series with Oakland Athletics, one of the oddest we've seen in quite some time, in which the Angels played three 1-run games, giving two of them away before stealing the finale, they embark on their second road trip of the season. Their first stop - Motor City. Nestled in the city where a 4-bedroom home costs less than a carton of Newports is Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers. If you Google Earth 2100 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201-3470, the stadium's address and slide your finger over the mouse pad you'll actually bear witness to three homicides. In a town without jobs or an…

There is nothing more rage inducing than the acquisitions and decisions this team makes for the bullpen. Are they still oblivious to its importance? Or do they think mr. career 12.00ERA will magically throw scoreless late innings as he dons the magical uniform. Anything is better than a tactic I fear they employ: throw enough shit until it magically transforms into a well oiled machine with cogs and synchronization. That approach along with the others this organization never ceases to improve upon is reckless and careless and more in line with the Astros or Marlins who don't necearilly worry about every single loss. This team just risks throwing in a career batting cage m…

This was an entertaining albeit frustrating series, with a great finish. Observing Oakland, I gotta say - that team is tough. It seemed like every sharply ball we hit was gobbled up by their corner infielders, and that their outfielders could get to everything (Gentry almost catching that Ianetta walk off homer was a good example). Every at bat was very calculated as well. I remember how Jaso just broke down Frieri during that 9th inning bomb in game 1. While the angels almost took all 3 games, they are going to need to have that same type of attention to detail and doggedness to keep up with Oakland this season.

Howie Kendrick blasts a pair of two-run homers as Jered Weaver regains form in an 11-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers. DETROIT -- An offensive barrage that featured a pair of two-run home runs from Howie Kendrick and a three-run shot from Albert Pujols — career homer No. 497 — was impressive and, it turns out, necessary for the Angels, who made things far too interesting by throwing an incendiary device by the name of Josh Wall into the proceedings Friday night.
