Starting Lineup(not getting into the AL vs NL games here) Trout LF Bourjos CF Hamilton RF Callaspo 3B Aybar SS Kendrick 2B Pujols/Trumbo 1B Pujols/Trumbo DH Obviously nothing surprising there. The only one there that is even a question at all would be Bourjos vs. Wells, but I still think when the dust settles it will be Bourjos taking most of the playing time because Wells is Wells. Bench: Wells Romine Backup Catcher- I guess this could be either Snyder or Conger at this point. I think Conger's throwing troubles give Snyder the edge for now, but I wouldn't be stunned by either decision. I also don't think it would take much for Conger to end up on the r…

Torii Hunter was a special type of player who could lead both on and off the field, and the Angels don't necessarily have one particular player who can do what he did for the team. They'll look to a number of players, including Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols, to emerge as leaders in 2013. View the full article

Vernon Wells got a rare start in right field for the Angels on Saturday, only his second of the spring at a position where he's spent less than two percent of his career innings. In the reserve role he figures to be in this season, playing both outfield corners is a must for the 34-year-old. View the full article

By Rob Goldman - AngelsWin.com Staff Writer In eight seasons with the Angels Nolan Ryan had helped lead the team from obscurity to serious contention. And he had conducted himself with the utmost class, professionalism and dignity. The fans, press and ownership loved him unconditionally, so even though Ryan was without a contract heading into the 1979 off-season, there was little speculation that the ace would not be back with the Angels in 1980. Ryan would have been content to play out the rest of his career in Anaheim, which he proved by purchasing a new home in nearby Villa Park, California. But GM Buzzie Bavasi ruined all that in the off season by not dealing wit…

Garrett Richards was asked if he feels he's done enough to make the Angels' staff out of Spring Training, and before the sentence could be finished, the 24-year-old right-hander already had his answer. "I do," Richards said. "I do. I feel like I've done everything I can possibly do." View the full article

I know it's just ST, but he's been on absolute tear! It's really disappointing that offense from a catcher doesnt mean jack to Scioscia. If DiPoto decides to make a mistake in trading away Conger, what do you guys think he can fetch?

After a 13-9 loss to the Kansas City Royals, the Angels' manager acknowledges that the team's 7.26 ERA this late in spring is something to watch. TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Angels can score in bunches, as they showed again Friday, when they amassed nine runs for the second straight game. The question is, will they have enough pitching to win high-scoring games? View the full article

If you could make one move as the Angels GM, what would it be? Would you start planning a budget to sign Verlander or Kershaw? Would you make a big trade at the deadline? Would you micro-manage the lineup, like in the movie "Moneyball"? Would you start teaching all of your pitchers to throw the knuckle ball to try and produce the next R. A. Dickey? As much as fans may want to the be the GM, the inner workings of a Major League front office are known to only a very few people in the world. And, most of the time, when a GM speaks, the message is very guarded, and often filtered by the media. But, at the 2013 AngelsWin.com Spring Training Fanfest the fans were given a ve…

Case in point, this game on TV right now between Venezuela and the Dominican club. In a close game with one out, Jose Reyes gets on base with a single. Erick Aybar up next (WITH SPEED ON FIRST BASE) slaps at the first pitch and grounds out to the first baseman, force out at second base. Aybar just does not have the type of patience we need in this spot, then there's his tenacity to bunt. Which brings me to my next point. Do we really want Aybar sacrificing outs with Trout's speed on base? Do we really want to sacrifice outs before our big guns get to the plate in Pujols, Hamilton and Trumbo? Put Callaspo in the two-spot and I bet he hits .300, 12 HR and scores a …

It has begun. My friend LongHairDontCare and I roll into town Tuesday evening. My other friend HaloMVP loves the Cactus League so much that he moved there. So he'll put us up for the week, right? Uh, no. He's housing Angels minor leaguers at his place all month, so no room at the inn. As he explained, Angels minor leaguers are more important than his friends, so there we are. Nonetheless, we are in for 5 days of exciting action-packed Halos baseball, up close and personal. It is good. Earlier today, I saw my beloved Halos play the stinking Pods in Peoria, my first Halos game in 6 months. The drought is OVER. Trout, with a triple, double, and a walk, looks like he's pi…

Interesting Read from Yahoo, mainly about prospect Billy Hamilton. http://news.yahoo.com/why-baseball-abandoning-stolen-104000000.html Angels stole 134 in 2012, 135 in 2011. Could the Angels could lead the league in steals in 2013?…something you'd think they'd have done recently, but they haven't led the AL since 2006. They had 148 that year, which included 52 from Chone Figgins, 27 from Orlando Cabrera, Kennedy had 16, Guerrero had 15, and Izturis had 14. They had quite a few slow pokes on that team in Mike Napoli, Tim Salmon, Juan Rivera, Jose Molina, Kendrys Morales, but by having good stolen base years from the five above, they led the league in…
