I think he makes a greater statement if he simply drops the bat, puts his head down and trots the bases.

He doesn't need to act like he just won the showcase on the price is right.

I agree about the beard. It looks like it's applied thusly:

It is somehow better than Dallas Keuchel's beard, which looks like a viking's scrotum.

I say shit just as bad about players all the time. I think on several occasions I've wished David Ortiz would develop AIDS.

He's just venting after a tough loss. Some of us are pros at venting after a good win. So there's that.

Sheesh, one of the reasons I love this forum is the sense of humor MOST of you guys have. My favorite team just collapsed like cheap lawn furniture (again)and you and AO are acting like Victorian scolds. Lighten up ladies.

My question is why do people think that free agency is supposed to give you value? Our former GM recently emphatically stated that free agency should not be a resource that should be visited often because you aren't getting value out of it most of the time.
Let me put it a different way do you think a team should pay $150MM-200MM for Chris Davis or trade some of their 2-3 players/prospects (giving up say $40MM in current prospect value) for Mitch Moreland?
I'd have to think the Moreland play is a lot better value wise right?
Bottom line is logic doesn't have a place in free agency. It is completely market driven paying for mostly past performance and current and near-term performance. That is why Heyward will get paid so much because he is actually at an age where he will continue to give you more of that "past"performance than current or future, lesser, performance.

I think Prince gets AL Comeback. Missed virtually all of '14 with a pretty serious neck injury. Overcame some personal issues as well that had lingered since his Tigers days. Plus he doesn't have Arod's baggage. All Davis came back from is a crappy year, albeit one in which he still hit 26 dingers.

Yellow Balloon got a reaction from Inside Pitch in Angels trade Hank Conger to Astros for C Carlos Perez and RHP Nick Tropeano
This trade actually ended up affecting the top 3 teams in the AL West.  Getting Conger allowed the Astros to dump Corporan on the Rangers for a pretty high-upside class A pitcher.  Corporan was pretty bad, got hurt around the ASB, and then by the time he was healthy found himself buried on the depth chart.

Outside of one year he has been a solid 3/4 starter. The Angels are going to have to mostly rely on what they have for SP.  Like I said above, adding a frontline guy just isn't feasible.  If they had a terrible staff with no potential it might make sense, but would still likely be a poor deal in the long run.  Other than the 3 guys I mentioned in my other post there is nobody great.  Gallardo is proven to be relatively solid and has pitched well in a pitchers park in the AL this year.   He would fill a gap that a guy like Santiago would leave if traded.  They could use Santiago to get a prospect or two and then sign someone with experience to shore up the depth.  Wei-Yin Chen is another option.  Can I ask why you are so against Gallardo?  I just think he is a guy they could get for a reasonable amount.

Both the Angels and Rangers have faced Felix Hernandez 5 times this season.  He's 3-1 v. Angels.  5-0 v. Rangers.

Houston has only faced him once all season.  But in that one game the Astros hung 8 runs on him in 1 inning.

Therefore if you're an Angels or Rangers fan you should probably be ecstatic that Houston only had the luxury of facing him once, right?

The Angels are going to exploit the new market inefficiency.  Championships are going to be won with catching and fringe bat speed.

By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Columnist -
I’m going to preface this article by apologizing for being selfish. I lost someone very important to me and it may not be important for you. Please bear with me, I’ll try to keep it brief but 14 years can’t be encapsulated in just a couple of sentences and words.
It’s December 2001 and I’m at work and I get a call from my wife, Firozeh, from her place of work: “Robert, Robert, there’s a dog here that needs a home! Can we adopt him?!?!?!?!”
After a short discussion I drove over and walked into the store. My wife opens up the door to the break room and she calls to a figure outside of my view: “Come here!”
Seconds later 16 lbs. of black and white Shih-Tzu walks up to her. My wife points to me and says: “There’s your new daddy!” He looked at me, looked back at her and nodded his head.
Who knew at that moment that 14 years of pure love and joy would enter our lives and change us forever?
The apartment we had at the time didn’t accept pets so we did our best to keep him hidden. We quickly discovered from his previous family, who was unable to keep him, that his name was “Blackie”.
We tried containing him in the kitchen to avoid potential pet stains on the floor but Blackie was a really smart cookie and after 2 days we woke up and found him laying on our couch in the living room.
Before we knew it he was in our bed and deep in our hearts. He ate like a pig and had the metabolism of an Olympic athlete.
Blackie loved to go for walks and we were happy because he provided companionship for my mother-in-law and father-in-law when they stayed with us and we had to go to work.
He was a perfect little gentleman and very well-mannered. Blackie loved to chase his toys and he loved to battle spider hand:

Here’s a short sample of pictures over the years. Although they obviously don’t fully capture the experience you can see the love that we shared:

A Crowning Achievement for Me, My Queen and My Little Prince:

Blackie died from complications from a cancerous cyst on Tuesday, May 19th, 2015. He died in his mommy’s arms while she sang a song to him.
To help honor Blackie’s memory I’d ask each of you to spend some time today with someone you love and care about.
Whether it’s your children, husband/wife, parents, girlfriend/boyfriend, or even just a friend, call them up, send them an e-mail, IM, or text, or, even better yet, watch the Angels play tonight.
Just spend some time with them and cherish it.
Tuesday evening I lost my son and the Angels won that night.
And I’m not just talking about the team. God called up his best prospect he’s ever going to get to join his Angels.
RIP Son, your Mommy and I love you and we can’t wait to see your beautiful, shining face, again, when our time is up. View the full article

1971 All-Star game.  6 homers.  All by future Hall of Famers.  Bench, Aaron, and Clemente for the NL.  Jackson, F. Robinson, and Killebrew for the AL.

I remember as a little kid watching this game on TV in a hotel room in San Marcos, Texas.  Reggie's light tower shot was probably the moment I fell in love with baseball.  I can still watch it on youtube over and over again.

Of course the downside to all of this is that I would have had to have been in Detroit.
