Angels trade Hank Conger to Astros for C Carlos Perez and RHP Nick Tropeano

Recommended Posts

I liked that they got Tropeano. Has always had success at the MILB level. 3.26 ERA in nearly 470 innings with 479 strikeouts. Only 24 years old. Scouting report has him as a backend type starter but it just adds to the overall depth to the team's rotation

good pickup IMO. No clue about the catcher they got but he's young and has a .277 career BA in MILB. Hopefully he's good defensively

#Angels lose Major League experience with their backup catcher, but get the cost-controlled SP they want. Tropeano controllable for 6 years.

Tropeano is a possible back-end starter, good depth for Angels. Perez was Astros' 4th/5th best C, becomes viable backup option for LAA.

With CJ/Weav/Hamilton/Pujols/Trout's contracts set to really blow up over the next few years, it's crucial that they have some quality, cost controlled arms going forward. Richards, Shoemaker, Skaggs, Tropeano, Newcomb, Santiago gives them those cost-controlled arms
