Reveille1984 got a reaction from Vladdylonglegs in 15 Worst Contracts This Year
But Pujols said he would void his contract if he can no longer play at a high level! We all believe that will happen, right? Right??........

Reveille1984 reacted to WallyWorld in The rotation is still lacking
Chuck, I'm sorry, but that's the same kind of ra-ra b.s. we were all (myself included) spouting this time last year. Any rotation looks good when you project the best case scenario for every pitcher. I swear I'm trying to simply be objective and not just a pessimist - I see a rotation that needed to be vastly improved from 2013, and is now looking only marginally better, if at all.

Reveille1984 got a reaction from jsnpritchett in [Fangraphs] Will New Look Angels Rotation Fly High?
Summary: All of our pitchers are either in decline or have a mediocre arsenal of pitches, so hopefully the defense is good enough for us to not have five 4.00+ ERA starters. Optimism!

Reveille1984 reacted to CanadianHalo in Howie Kendrick gets NO RESPECT
To keep it plain and simple, I'm tired of watching him hit into double plays.

Reveille1984 got a reaction from Halos of Anaheim in Dear Jerry, Hire this guy....
Seriously. This isn't the NBA where Trumbo could have a Lebron-like season and carry a team to the playoffs. Too many combinations of things have to go right in baseball for a team to have a great year.
Trout has been 4-5x more valuable than Trumbo for the past two years, and we still weren't even close to clinching a spot in the postseason. I'd say Trumbo's peak year could possibly be one season as a 3.5 or 4 WAR guy, and that's being generously optimistic given his weaknesses as a player. More likely he'll continue to be a 2 WAR player, which is great at league minimum but not anything special or worth holding on to when you can get SP with some upside.

Reveille1984 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Official Mark Trumbo Trade Chatter (DEAL DONE)
If we had pitching and traded a substantial SP for Trumbo, I wouldn't be happy.

Reveille1984 reacted to jshep in Arizona Fall League Top Statistical Players
In all fairness, everyone knows AFL stats are anti-Semitic.

Reveille1984 got a reaction from Second Base in Rosenthal: Who will the Angels deal for pitching?
Buehrle is gonna be 35 and is owed $30M over the next two seasons.... and there's no way they would take Blanton. They know Hanson is washed up as well. And it would provide them what, $4M in salary relief? Iannetta makes $5M and Hanson will make around $4-5M in arbitration.
We're looking for cost-controlled young pitching. The last thing we need is more bloated payroll for another guy in his mid-thirties.

One of the gayest things in sports is when the bullpen runs in the field.

Reveille1984 reacted to nate in Scioscia looking pretty silly again
He is supposed to have such a high baseball IQ yet he was wrong on platooning Kendrys and now Calhoun. Really can't wait until we dump this schmuck.

Reveille1984 reacted to Brandon in Josh Hamilton will have a monster 2014 season
Nothing worse than the Debbie Downers that think everyone and the team will suck. Props on the thread, I hope it comes through.

Reveille1984 got a reaction from ispy45 in Trumbo support
The guy turns 28 in a few months, how much potential does he really have left? AJ pretty much nailed it in that he's a one-tool player that is only valuable because that one tool is very good. He walks a little more every year, but his K rate increases along with it. His arm is nice, but who cares if he has a plus arm really? He's played a total of 27 games in the OF this year and has racked up a whopping 1 assist. We don't need him in the outfield with our current logjam, so 80% of the time he's playing 1B/DH anyways.
All in all, I don't really care if he stays around or gets potentially packaged for pitching. I feel like he's more valuable on another team honestly. A nice player, but not a building block. The future of the team is going to be guys like Trout, Bourjos, Calhoun, Lindsey, Conger, Green, etc.

Aybar is not too expensive to move. His contract is quite club-friendly. It was a good signing by Dipoto
