wopphil reacted to Lou in Great trade!! Dipoto acquires RHP reliever Kyle Winkler for Marc Krauss
something tells me Bedrosian is going to replace Bedrosian in our minor league system sooner rather than later

Maybe his BF ("Balls Factor") is low, indicating he doesn't have the balls to come in with runners on and get out of the situation with minimal damage.

Only phil could turn something such as this into a political issue.

I would not under any circumstance trade Trout for a rebuild.

I agree. I wasn't referring to board discussion on the issue, I was thinking about the national news and political discussions.

Heaney has a 4.71 ERA in the PCL this year. Some might want to lower the expectations.

wopphil got a reaction from ten ocho recon scout in Well done CJ
It looks to me like I was completely wrong about CJ. I assumed there was no chance he would bounce back from last year. But he is having a great season (his WHIP, bb/k, and bb/9 are all career bests right now).
No way Heaney could match that production. But if we are still foundering in a month, I say trade him if we can get something nice in return.

i think mark laid it out well. the original intent relates to a militia. private ownership doesn't seem to be the same thing.
i think the other amendments have been updated pretty well over the years. the second amendment seems to hit a sore spot with a lot of people in a different way.

This is, as it always has been, no reason not to do whatever we can to stop it.
It is like saying I shouldn't work hard because the company I work for could get bought tomorrow and we all could get laid off.
We must strive to be better.

STFU? really? That's your reaction to someone suggesting that near limitless access to guns may be a contributing factor to situations such as this?
Tragedy, terrible situation.

I'd prefer that then the trend years ago where everyone tried to be the hoppiest beer on the planet.
The worst was the public ate it up and you'd see people recommend or pump up terrible beer.

We need a nice performance by that. Good to see we can win a 1-0 game.

wopphil reacted to Angelsjunky in BOSOX: loaded with OF in need of SP
They won't trade Betts, at least not for what the Angels would be willing to part with. The same with Castillo. They'd trade everyone else, but Bradley is all-glove, no-bat; Brentz looks like a scrub/career AAA type; Victorino seems done and is making $13M this year. Hanley Ramirez is overrated and a terrible defender - he's on the verge of being a $22M a year DH. Nava and de Aza are bench players.
Unless the Red Sox are willing to part with Betts or Castillo, which is highly doubtful, I don't see a trade happening.

wopphil got a reaction from Dreams in Chris Ellis
My vote is to go Bill Stoneman here and not trade anyone whose last name is Heaney, Tropeano, Ellis, Newcomb, Gatto, or Rhoades.

Hang onto him, unless it is for an AJ Pollock or Christian Yellich type of player in return.
