Weaver Placed On DL

Recommended Posts

So guys, if Heaney comes in an just blows away hitters, gives a solid 7 innings per outing, keeps his era under 2.50 do they relegate Weaver to the bullpen or cut him outright?

Before you answer please see 2006 for reference.

That's a pretty big if.

Jered is an Angel lifer dude.  Jeff had no history with the franchise.  Completely different situation.

Bartolo was the guy that went on the DL. When he returned someone had to be bumped. Long term veteran that was not pitching well moved Jered to AAA.

It's the same situation.

Notti would be right if 10 years of loyal service didn't mean anything.

Weaver even agreed to a much smaller contract to stay with the Angels. He's a true competitor, a leader on the team, and one who never smiles if the team is losing. He's been a dominant and integral aspect of the team since he first took the mound in 2006.

Watching him struggle has been sad and I hope he turns things around.

Heaney has a 4.71 ERA in the PCL this year. Some might want to lower the expectations.

Agreed. Heaney blew it this Spring, and he's doing even worse in AAA—he's not going to magically pitch well if he's called up. I don't want to declare him a busy yet, but I don't think much of him.

This team could have been exceptionally more competitive if Kendrick were in the lineup; instead, Heaney is blowing up in AAA, and the Angels are perpetually floating at .500 in search of a competent hitter. Keeping Kendrick would have been worth it.

johng has done ok....not that far off from howie stat wise..   heaney can have a start up here to see what he has...be good for him to see where he is at....i envisioned him a whole year basically at salt lake based on spring training though...he seemed far away from pitching a whole game and grinding out them out when necessary....which we know is often.

Sorry, but you are wrong dude. At least if you go by stats like OPS+, WAR, oWAR and dWAR, they have been almost identical players.
