He's thinking the team has multiple needs and decided he liked this guy for whatever reason. This trade certainly doesn't affect their ability to get a bat. They gave up Kraus, so I doubt this guy is great.

Or the Rays wanted Krauss and Winkler was best/most useful of the names offered in return.

Or maybe Angels are closing in on a left-handed 1B/LF/DH type like Adam Lind, further reducing any potential usefulness of the same (albeit lesser) hitter....making room in AAA for Navarro to to back when aforementioned is acquired, especially with Cron now in SLC at 1B/DH.

Winkler could also be taking place of a RP prospect going out in a trade.

Krauss is one of those that looks great on paper in the minors.  Then turns into a pumpkin when up at the majors.

 

We shall see if Winkler was a one year fluke.

 

If Winkler can continue what he has done.  Looks like a great win.  But if TB can figure out Krauss, then they could win.

DeLaRosa for Geltz looked good for a while, will depend on how much they get out of Geltz. But DDLR was great in his one year.

Ramos for Sappington has been good thusfar.
