2112 reacted to Chuck in Longtime member & friend/contributor of AngelsWin.com (Brandon) has passed away
I learned from his sister this evening that @Brandon has passed away today.
I have no details of the cause of death. They will know more tomorrow and let me know.
I’m honestly in shock and have no more words to add right now.
Here are some pictures of Brandon at past events and one in which he covered the Angels for us with a media credential at the Big A.

I wonder if the fans in Oakland will now stop attending games.

Go ahead and retire Anthony. If you’re that beat up throw in the towel and let the club move on.

As I have mentioned in the past, my late father and I bonded mainly over baseball. When I was eight years old, my father took me out of school to go to a spring training game between his beloved Cardinals and the Phillies. Stan Musial played in that game prior to the final season of his career, and I got an autograph after the game. For decades, details of the game eluded me. Despite me being able to determine the exact date of the game, I got no assistance from the newspaper, who referred me to the public library. When I contacted the library by phone, I got no direct help then either.
This morning I returned from a two week trip to visit my sister. One of my planned stops was the main public library, where the newspaper archives is located. An employee in the archives took particular interest in what I was doing, and she located the microfilm that included the date in question: April 6, 1963. In the two days leading up to the game, there was surprisingly little in the sports section. Then I reviewed the sports section on the day after the game. Jackpot. A full page of coverage, with photos (including one of Musial), multiple stories including a full game review, and a complete box score. I found out that Phillies great Richie Ashburn also played in the game.
A mere 59 years later, this eight year old boy found a written record of one of the most significant days of my youth. I was given a flash drive with my selected articles saved to it. My sincere thanks to the Newspaper Archives Section of the Jacksonville Public Library. They could not have been more gracious or helpful.

I'm gonna need a ruling on this.

2112 got a reaction from Slegnaac in Vin Scully passes away
He knew that some would only be listening for a few minutes, so he would always tell the score of the game often.
As a kid, Vin’s voice would always be in my head. 🤪

2112 reacted to Second Base in Players you want to see get extended looks in the majors for the remainder of the season
I've thought a little about this.
1. Anyone but Gosselin at 3B. This just makes me sad. Try Stefanic. Put Thaiss over there for all I care, but just don't waste a developmental opportunity on a journeyman that neither helps you win or improved your future.
2. Thaiss or Wallach at catcher. The Suzuki era had reached its natural conclusion. Don't drag this out. Let's see what we have. O'Hoppe cracks the team at some point next year and is the starter in 2024 and beyond. But let's see if we have an offensive backup.
3. Junk in the rotation. He's been excellent in AAA, and he eats innings. He's earned it.
4. Moniak in the outfield, because I've believed all along that he's been underrated just because of where he was drafted. He's a solid player that can impact the game in some capacity moving forward.

The Dodgers should broadcast tomorrow’s game in silence. No announcers, just the game.
Hell, all of MLB should do it.

2112 got a reaction from ArkyAngelsFan in Six reasons why this is the most disappointing season (for me) since 1995
I have no words. It's as depressing as hell. I would even be ok with trading every one and tanking for a couple of years. Of course that's impossible.
Maybe the team could be dissolved and I can stop following baseball.

2112 got a reaction from OhtaniSan in How do we fix this realistically?
Go back to the Stoneman type of team management.
Develop a good farm system.
Promote them to the majors.
Trade / sign players to fill in any holes.
Do not acquire players that are marginally better / same than what you have.

I'm only disappointed because I stupidly bought into them when they were 24-13.
There aren't enough graves in the world to fill with all the time I've killed caring about this garbage.

A blind man wanders into an all girls biker bar by mistake.
He finds his way to a bar stool and orders some coffee.
After sitting there for awhile, he yells to the waiter, “Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?â€
The bar immediately falls absolutely silent. In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says, “Before you tell that joke, sir, I think it is only fair — given that you are blind — that you should know five things:
1. The bartender is a blonde girl with a baseball bat.
2. The bouncer is a blonde girl.
3. I’m a 6 foot tall, 175 lb. Blonde woman with a black belt in karate.
4. The woman sitting next to me is blonde and a professional weightlifter.
5. The lady to your right is blonde and a professional wrestler. Now, think about it seriously, Mister. Do you still wanna tell that joke?â€
The blind man thinks for a second, shakes his head, and mutters, “No… Not if I’m gonna have to explain it five times.â€

Just an educated guess, but I think most women don't like to be with men who are unemployed.

2112 reacted to arch stanton in Would you still be an Angels fan if the team relocated?
I went through this with hockey. I was one of about 2,000ish people on any given night who would go see the old Colorado Rockies hockey team play. When they moved to New Jersey to become the Devils I still followed them and the old players. By the time most of them were gone the Nordiques moved to Denver so I had a new team to follow. So I guess I'd still follow the exploits of Trout and Ohtani but as the team changed my loyalty might change with it

He followed me a couple of years ago. I think you're right he probably followed based on an Angels tweet by you. There a a couple of ML'ers that follow almost everyone.
