Marte did something last season that he couldn't do in the minors, which is be a true and consistent power threat.  Now that's either lightning in a bottle, or Marte took the step forward and has now become an everyday player.
2017 will tell us for sure.
But I wouldn't trade Escobar. First, we don't know if Marte is "real" or not yet. Second, Escobar still fills a critical need for this team, and that's getting on base in front of Trout, Pujols and Calhoun. Third, even if Marte is ready, we still need the depth with such uncertainty surrounding Cron and Maybin. And finally, Escobar is only with the Angels one more season. If Marte truly is better, there will be little reason to start Escobar over him.
Keeping Escobar and Marte is the best way to go here.

We have two expensive players that are active on the roster, one can't be traded and the other is Mike Trout.  Curious how you think Eppler can take the same approach.
