I honestly don't know how someone can argue Schilling is not a HOF pitcher.

Fish Oil reacted to AngelsWin.com in AngelsWin.com Today: Is Trevor Bauer the final piece?
    By @angelsnationtalk, AngelsWin.com Contributor
Before we get started let's look at the 5 majors additions the Angels have made so far in 2020.
Traded for RP Raisel Iglesias (+$9.125M)
Traded for SS Jose Iglesias (+3.5M)
    Signed RP Alex Claudio (+$1.125M)
    Signed C Kurt Suzuki (+$1.5M)
    Signed SP Jose Quintana (+8M)
Total adds an additional $23.25M to the 2021 payroll.
Here's what is interesting. All of these players become free agents after the 2021 season.
    Therefore....
    The cost for 2021: $23.25M
    The cost for 2022: $0.
    Opening Day payroll: $173,413,096
    CB Tax Payroll: $185,933,334
    Tax Space: $24,066,666
Arte Moreno said to reporters while introducing Perry Minasian as the Angels' new GM that the payroll will not go down. This has been justified as the Angels will have their highest Opening Day payroll in club history at roughly $173.4M.
The most important piece of this entire story is that none of these acquisitions for the Angels impact their future 2022 payroll obligations and beyond.
Here is where things get very interesting. This is the first year since around 2015-2016 where the division is up for grabs. The Angels have the best chances to win the AL West. Arte Moreno has also said in the past that he wouldn't be concerned about going over the luxury tax if it was for the right player.
Well, with a new CBA likely needed to begin the 2022 we could see some drastic changes to payroll that might not even bother Arte Moreno. First thing is what will the tax threshold be? It's currently set at $210M for 2021. After that it's up for a negotiation. Will it be $215M? $220M? or even $250M? No one knows. But what we can guess is that if the threshold goes up (yes, Arte has said he cares about actual payroll and not AAV/threshold numbers), then the Angels have reached their opportunity to push the budget for 2021 and let it reset for 2022.
Arte Moreno has publicly put himself on the hot seat by firing Billy Eppler and publicly announcing they were having serious internal talks (including with Trout) about what needs to be fixed. And yes, they acknowledged they need rotation help. The Angels have spent the last couple of seasons signing 1yr deals to starting pitchers with major question marks. Take Harvey, Cahill and Teheran for example. Anyone else get that Deja Vu feeling with a 1yr deal to Quintana?
The Angels aren't done. Pujols' contract is off the books in 2022 and the Angels will reset the payroll a bit with that. Trevor Bauer is next for the Angels. The front office knows the upset that will happen if we skip out on another year for a top rotation piece.
I'll leave it with a quote from Angels President, Jon Carpino from a story by @Jeff Fletcher back in September talking about how they feel with Mike Trout.
“We feel tremendous responsibility to Mike,” Carpino said. “We believe he’s one of the greatest players… Being able to surround Mike, to be able to perform on the game’s greatest stage… Yeah, we feel it every day.”
    See you soon, Trevor Bauer.

feels like last year where the chairs in the game of musical chairs slowly dwindled away to the angels falling on their asses. i feel the exact same way this year as i did list, in that i'd like to see the angels grab one solid pitcher like an odorizzi or sugano that should be reasonably priced, then continue to pursue the other targets. if they get left out at that point, at least it won't be a total misfire.

Snell has "overpriced disaster" stamped on his forehead. Given the prospects that would be lost in a trade, I have little interest.

Not sure why this is still in the baseball forum, but wth.
This was one of two posts in this thread to suggest my understanding of history was flawed. Whatever, I let it go. But then AJ unironically says:
Howard Zinn? And you're dunking on me for bad history? Absolutely freaking priceless. 😂
I only read history (primarily early US) recreationally and have for a few years now. I only have literally two bookcases of books on history (mostly early American - not including a few more shelves worth on my Kindle) with a handful of books specifically addressing Native American conflicts in early America (and for that matter, several more specifically on African American studies also, including a couple by Zinn's buddy, Eric Foner, fwiw).
But nah, my history is bad because I actually trust legitimate history and not Marxist revisionists who don't give a crap about what actually happened, but only how it can be spun into extreme leftist propoganda that has decimated countries as bad as the conquistadors ever did.
What next, the 1619 Project? What a crock.

I'm not sure if this is dishonesty or pure ignorance. Probably both.
The line you're referring to is as follows:
"He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions."
This was one of many lines of charges laid out against King George in the Declaration. The British persuaded Indians to attack the colonists. Source:

Yeah, you really have to hand it to the Aztecs. Using their primitive technology (didn't even have the wheel) they could run sacrificial victims over their altars faster than the Nazi's could run Jews through Auschwitz.
    That is actually pretty impressive.

Were Indians in this country oppressed? Sure. Almost every people group was at some point in history. The one common denominator is virtually no one from those oppressed people groups is currently living and no one living even knows anyone personally in those groups who were oppressed.
Probably every team name would have some group that is offended by it especially if they can feel powerful by forcing it to be changed. Angels offend atheists and other religions. Padres are stereotypes. If this goes on much farther, animal rights groups are gonna have a field day with the Cubs, Dbacks, and Rays. Sound stupid? So is this.
The problem with empathy is not in the thing itself but in who is actually fighting for it. SJW's are just trying to get power and money - stirring up popular resentment among the dumbasses of society is how they get both.
Personally, as a name, I don't really give a crap whether they keep the name or change it. I have zero investment either way in the name as such. But I detest cancel culture and the owners being coerced into it. It's a cancer and those who practice it - regardless of political ideology or party - are freedom-hating fascists.
