Use this thread to post news on the Angels players and team throughout spring training. 

Minasian is in way over his head. His deals at the deadline were amateurish except for the Marsh-O’Hoppe deal. He gave away Syndergaard for absolutely nothing. Taking back Moniak was the most stupid move ever. The Phillies traded a top prospect for Marsh because they were desperate to get a legitimate CF. Minasian acquires the CF from the Phillies who couldn’t win the CF job after being a #1 overall pick in 2016. That is assinine. 

Until Arte relinquishes control of the organization to a real Baseball man, experienced in running a successful organization, the Angels will be competing for the basement in the West.  

This will probably be Minasian’s one chance to hire his own guy for Manager. He is going to go with someone he is comfortable with. Hopefully his hire has a good plan in place for filling out his coaching staff.

It's going to be incredibly weird if he left, but the Angels need depth in so many areas that a trade like this almost has to be done. 
Every night our depth is severely exposed. I'd hate to say it, but IMO there is no way the Angels can win with mega contracts to Ohtani, Trout and Rendon. We all know Arte won't significantly raise payroll.
At this point, the Angels need a jumpstart to a rebuild. This deal gets you those prospects to build around.

I want a new owner (or ownership group) that knows baseball and isn't afraid to make bold, and EFFECTIVE, moves to build this team back up. That includes a decent farm system and more scouts, especially of the international type.
I want the David Fletcher of last year, of the 26-game hitting streak.
I want the healthy Mike Trout who used to hit the cover off the ball and didn't swing at crap over his head or way outside. The MVP Trout we used to know.
I want a decent hitting shortstop. 
I want Anthony Rendon to come back strong and stop getting hurt all the time. The 2019 Rendon.
I want Brandon Marsh to learn how to hit a baseball. The thing he was supposed to learn in Little League.
I want Jo Adell to figure out baseball period.
I want new coaches who understand pitching and hitting. 
I want a good permanent manager, not this revolving door of mediocrities and wine-sipping, over-the-hill 'personalities'.
I want starters who can go deep into the game, and relievers who can miss bats and throw strikes.
I want the team to play some fundamental baseball and do more than swing for the fences at every bad pitch that comes their way.
Above all, I want some spirit and competitive grit from my Angels. I've been waiting too long...Darin Erstad, where are you?

It has been a long time since the Angels have had a legitimate 1B with power and average, drives in runs and plays GG caliber defense. I would take Walsh with his five years of control over Bryant any day. Bryant hasn’t been that impactful in his career. I pass.

Ive been mostly lurking of late for various reasons but i gotta chime in here...
Those kids, also have the potential to be a very solid rotation.  Why relegate them to the pen for more expensive FA starters when SP is being so heavily devalued by the metrics and no one is going more than 5/6 innings tops anymore? 
They have the ability to be a good rotation, if we put a bullpen behind them to shorten games.
This is where the game seems headed.. ATL won a WS with 2 bullpen games!   Greinke went 4 was it, in the WS?  Freid was cruising and got pulled anyway... the era of the ace is over. 
Overpaying for SP which was already a bad investment just to push the kids to the pen seems counter productive in the current paradigm.
Build a lockdown pen, first... add an ace or anchor, whatever fine, but we cant have another year of clean peanut bullpen. 

38 million next 5 years another very bad long term contract. When will they learn WHEN?

Sadly this theme will continue until they start drafting and developing the pitching talent they need. Hopefully we this change with guys like Detmers, Sandoval, C-Rod and Suarez.
