Heaney has a 4.71 ERA in the PCL this year. Some might want to lower the expectations.

It looks to me like I was completely wrong about CJ. I assumed there was no chance he would bounce back from last year. But he is having a great season (his WHIP, bb/k, and bb/9 are all career bests right now).
No way Heaney could match that production. But if we are still foundering in a month, I say trade him if we can get something nice in return.

i think mark laid it out well. the original intent relates to a militia. private ownership doesn't seem to be the same thing. 
 
i think the other amendments have been updated pretty well over the years. the second amendment seems to hit a sore spot with a lot of people in a different way.

This is, as it always has been, no reason not to do whatever we can to stop it.

They won't trade Betts, at least not for what the Angels would be willing to part with. The same with Castillo. They'd trade everyone else, but Bradley is all-glove, no-bat; Brentz looks like a scrub/career AAA type; Victorino seems done and is making $13M this year. Hanley Ramirez is overrated and a terrible defender - he's on the verge of being a $22M a year DH. Nava and de Aza are bench players.
 
Unless the Red Sox are willing to part with Betts or Castillo, which is highly doubtful, I don't see a trade happening.

In certain cases two rights may appear to be at odds...like offering complete protection to everyone (and the strawman argument that everyone should be put away in prison)...or the ridiculous assertion that the second amendment would appear to trump every other right and that as citizens we don't have the right to freedom from gun violence...or taken to the extreme any violence against our person in general. In that case...you apply logic...or apparently apply the language written in magical disappearing ink that says that second amendment trumps everything.

At some point we have to stick with a GM. IMO most of the issues on this team aren't of Dipoto's making. He has been severely hamstrung by the Pujols and Hamilton contracts (neither his doing) in terms of who could be acquired to help the club. He has done a stellar job of rebuilding what was one of the worst farm systems in MLB when he arrived, and he has done a creditable job of addressing team needs given the financial restraints he has been under. I'm still a Dipoto fan. This is just one of those seasons when everyone underperforms. You can't explain it and you can't fix it on the fly.

That's bs...we absolutely have the right to be free from gun violence...and the fear that we can walk in to a public place and not be shot up by same wack job with a gun...or having our first amendment rights silenced because some ****ing yodel decides he's going to walk around strapped with an assault rifle and then try and engage in open debate...because somehow that means "freedom"
