I have no idea regarding your last question, but there is no way Pujols can't be embarrassed by that play.  Heck, I was embarrassed for him.  I can't imagine any team not shifting like that against him from now on.  It is the perfect way to play him at this point in his career.

Those are with hindsight, based on the knowledge at the time I would have made both moves.  Moving on.....

They should do the whole sign a one day deal to let him retire an Angel.  He deserves it especially after what he did with contract etc... 

Maybe, Eppy was asked if he was interested in putting a claim in on Ramirez. And he said Noe! So, they did it.

I think we'd have a better chance of extending Trout by showing him we were serious about surrounding him with top talent and going all in to win the WS.

Saw him pitch against Cal State Fullerton. After a few pitches I  asked my buddy " who the hell is this guy"? His answer, "I think he's their ace!" I didn't know at the time he would become one of my favorite Angels player.
 

Thank you Jered for all the memories!!  You had a great heart and competitive spirit and will definitely be remembered among the Angels elite pitchers.  Thanks also for your touching tribute to Nick Adenhart before you pitched each night.

Absolute class act. He took less money to stay with the Angels. He is in my all time fav Top 5 Angels.

the lack of activity in those 'other' areas is almost certainly related to financial restrictions.  

You sign him before at all costs.
If our farm system was barren, much like it was a couple years ago and this was Trout's final year and he already turned down several good offers for a contract extension, I would gut some team's farm system for top talent and trade him. I wouldn't take the risk in losing him for nothing. That would be dumb IMO.
I still think he's going to stay here for the remainder of his career though, much like Salmon, Ripken and Jeter. 

Maybe it's a secret you were never let in on but these guys do hang out together off the field, especially if they had played together in youth leagues, college, the minors. 

You bring this up all the time but ignore that Trout and his agent originally wanted a lifetime contract.
