What's with the superiority complex the last couple days?  My opinion is no better than anybody else.  Too bad you don't feel the same.

This is a major league team and not your kids t-ball team where one of the coaches bails because he over committed.  These aren't kids who are saddened by him leaving they're grown adults who know that life isn't perfect, shit happens and they saw the discord for months or years.  I think everyone here understands what it means to make a commitment but what you're failing to consider or just flat out ignoring is that it cuts both ways.  The team or rather certain people within the organization didn't give him the respect that comes with his position and didn't honor their commitment to him as the GM.  In your eyes he should have stuck it out to be a punching bag or a figurehead just because of the "team" concept which makes no sense because people inside and outside of the organization would know it's a charade.  Everyone here is part of more than one team or organization and knows at a point when it's time to cut ties.    

If anyone thinks this was about MS's unwillingness to use advanced metrics then the big picture has been missed.  
 
I actually think MS will use certain metrics and it's clear he's implemented some of this into his style.  
 
This was about the fact that Dipoto wanted to run the show and he was handcuffed in several directions.  He even said that he wasn't able to help the club the way he wanted to.  
 
his budget was pulled out from under him by the pujols and hamilton signings
he was forced to use a pre-existing manager and coaching staff
his farm director wasn't of his choosing
he tried to provide data to the team to help them win and it wasn't implemented to his liking
 
so every little thing he did was a battle.  he was constantly forced to compromise the way he wanted to do things.  
 
Not only did that wear on him (clearly), but it undermined his authority and bred a lack of respect and trust for what he was trying to do.  It was an accumulation of headaches that shouldn't have been.  He was constantly asking permission to do things he shouldn't have needed to.  
 
When your owner effectively brings in big named players
and your manager gets to pick and choose the which of your ideas he wants to implement 
and you have to ask supposed subordinates if its ok to do certain things
 
then who are the guys on the field accountable to?  
 
this organization set him up to not receive the respect he was entitled to based on his position.  
 
and when he held a meeting with his coaches and manager indicating 'this is how I want things done' he got inappropriate resistance from someone who should have been keeping their mouth shut for fear of losing their job but that persons job wasn't accountable to Jerry. 
and when he held another meeting with the players indicating 'this is how I want things done' he got inappropriate backlash from someone because that someone is more accountable to the owner and manager than the gm.  
 
and like that.....he's gone.  

Sounds like he's rising above it. Good for him. Right thing to do.

If Arte hadn't gotten involved and gave Hamilton a contract no other team in baseball was going to come close to, I think there would have been the payroll flexibility to put better players in those 3 spots.

And Cron apparently doesn't.

He had 15 at bats in this MLB stint and has 21 for the season. Would love to know how that counts as being "given a chance".

But if your point is that Green is getting jobbed, and Cron has opportunity disproportionate to his abilities, then yeah.

Oakland is like your butt-ugly friend that somehow manages to bang the hottest broads.

I literally only have two gripes about Albert. One, he doesn't work the count like he once did. Two, he absolutely needs to hit the ball through the right side when they over shift and pitch him middle-out. All the other stuff I read on here is fan butthurt.

I'm old fashioned in that I tend to judge players by what I can observe with my eyes rather than what I cannot always perceive that factors into advanced metrics. That's my eye test, I guess, and here is what I saw.
Mathis couldn't hit a tree with his bat.
Napoli was a good hitter with ++ power.
Mathis had a poor throwing arm and did not always seem to know the difference between 1st and 2nd base.
Pitchers seemed to like pitching to Mathis but still pitched well with Napoli. 
Scioscia had it bad for Mathis and had it in for Napoli.

I would rather see Green in LF and Joyce on the pine.  Run prevention is still important even if you do need to pick up the offense.

That's the only thing I can think if, he must have pissed in someone's Cheerios. He's done EVERYTHING expected of someone to be in the majors. He's hitting in AAA, he's switched positions, he plays positions from which the Angels are getting little or no production from (LF, DH, 2B) he's sat the bench and hasn't complained to the media once.
How the Angels have planted him in AAA is really unfair to the team and him. So the only conclusion I can think if is that he pissed someone off along the way. I wouldn't say he 'd save the offense but he can certainly hit .290 with lots of doubles if given a consistent shot.
