  1. At this rate so could Luck if they continue throwing it. 208 yards in the first quarter and 2 TD's. Real glad I'm playing against him in one of my leagues.
  2. Does your stepson already have his desert toys picked out? To yk's credit he still comes off as yk in the article and not someone who sounds like they're giving Miss America pageant answers.
  3. Government does something wrong and they cover it up. Meanwhile they continue to take away civil liberties and there's also that whole civil forfeiture thing: http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2014/10/06/john_oliver_on_civil_forfeiture_with_jeff_goldblum_he_creates_new_law_order.html When they screw up it's hush hush yet they continue to screw over citizens. Sad.

  5. I don't feel that Obama won on the "I'm not Bush" platform as that's what Kerry tried to do in 2004 and he failed partly because no one could tell you what he stood for or how he planned to accomplish what he said he would do. As Tobias said a lot of people bought into Obama being a breath of fresh air, talking about having an honest administration if elected and the list goes on. The kicker is that if republicans had gotten their shit together 2012 was the perfect chance for them to make a strong come back. Instead some of the right wing whack jobs had some nice sound bites right before their elections and Romney ran on the "I'm not him" platform that didn't work for Kerry.
  6. I'm guessing Nate got it backwards on accident because just like during that election it was confusing as **** to say supporting prop 8 meant a no on gay marriage. They even had PSA's about it clarifying that a yes vote meant no.
  7. Both gay marriage and the legalization of marijuana are being viewed differently around the country as opposed to 6 years ago. I don't think it has as much to do with people who were previously conservative considering themselves liberal as you seem to be implying.
  8. Perhaps it pulls through as the "Los Angeles Register of Orange County."
  9. A friend's mom has been working there I want to say for like 40+ years. She made it through all the cuts so far and has been holding on for retirement purposes. He's been telling her she needs to retire and downsize and this happening may finally make that decision for her.
  10. Think of the children Adam. Oh and your "safety." Pay no attention to the fact that the border is not secured and know that the gubmint has your best interest at heart when they slowly take away your rights.
  11. That chick died 2 weeks ago and they're just mentioning it now to play off of the other 7th heaven news. Oh and Tobias you beat me to it. I heard she was in Maxim (she's legal so have no fears) and after I got over the slight shock of feeling old remembering when she was a kid I made sure to check it out.
  12. Worst ever? Hardly. In the last 10 years alone 2005 was much worse as the Angels won a 5 game ALDS series vs. NY where Bartolo got hurt after facing I think 2 batters in game 5 and Santana had to come in. The next day they were in Chicago playing game 1 when most people (myself included) weren't counting on them to win that game after the long series they just wrapped up while Chicago had 3-4 days rest. They won that and were tied late in game 2 until the infamous Josh Paul play. They ended up losing the next 3 games to lose the series. That hurt a hell of a lot more for me.
  13. Hindsight is 20/20 and it goes well with a selective memory. Lackey signed a 5 year contract for 82.5M and has been below league average since then. I haven't missed him at all since he signed that contract which was overpaying for his services. Comparing him to CJ is pointless because given how both have performed I wouldn't have wanted either one of them for what they ended up signing for. Hopefully CJ figures some things out this offseason.
  14. Fantasy football is very popular but the same poll referenced above has been conducted for 30 years and over that time the interest in the NFL has continued to rise (majority of FF players weren't playing 7+ years ago) while it's decreased in baseball more than it has any other sport. The NFL is a marketing juggernaut and it is more enjoyable to the casual fan which isn't the least bit surprising. If you're a hardcore baseball fan like a lot of the people here you'll watch most or all of your teams games and even meet up with friends to watch a game. To the vast majority though unless it's a pennant race or the playoffs they aren't going to go out and get a bite for the purpose of watching a baseball game. I used to be a big fan of the NBA growing up in the 90's and watching that style of physical play which wasn't even as physical as the late 80's and today it's a wussified game of street ball with refs.
  15. Makes me think of the NFL thread in the sports forum saying how dangerous NFL games are to attend because of recent fights. Anyways it's sad that you can't feel safe going to sporting events these days. Even if you don't engage some drunk or psycho you never know wat they're capable of or thinking. Hoping for the best for the guy who got assaulted.
  16. I've been critical of Sciosca at times but a few bad plays in the field and two close games so far in the ALDS after 98 wins doesn't really warrant these types of threads. To each his own.
  17. So far this year most of the prime time games on Thursday, Sunday night and Monday have been boring. On a separate note the Broncos cut Prater which I don't really understand. He counts 2.5M against the cap this year and 4.1M against the cap next year. He's a better kicker than the guy who was subbing for him, has a stronger leg and he's actually one of the better kickers in the league. They kept Welker who was popping a Molly during the Kentucky Derby and cut a guy who drank alcohol. I realize he had a DUI from 2011 and that's why him testing positive for alcohol in his system got him suspended but cutting him makes little sense unless there's more to the story.

  19. Nate quoted Tobias so unless I'm missing something I'm not sure he was talking to you. Anyways any time I'm at the gym a few of the various TV's are on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, etc. and I've seen every single one of those channels criticize damn near everything Obama does and doesn't do. Of course fox does it more but CNN and MSNBC have their fair share of pundits on there taking shots at him.
  20. If I was Philly I'd be more worried about the offensive line. Last year they were the top rushing team in the league and so far this year they're averaging 73 yards a game less on the ground. Yesterday there were no holes for McCoy or Sproles and half the time defenders were in the backfield by the time the ball was handed off. To be fair if Philly had won yesterday the focus would be on how bad Kap is. That guy tried to give the game away more than once and when he screws up it's Cutleresque.
  21. It's business and I don't fault either side. That said if they do end up moving and that move is to somewhere in LA I don't foresee me making it to games.
  22. I pay $7.99 a month for netflix. That's the cost of a quick lunch during the week or a few beers at the local dive bar. Like rally said it's great bang for your buck.
  23. Sorry to hear it. Years ago the house of my friends parents where we spent a lot of time at growing up was broken into. They cased it and did their homework pulling up in a van looking like they were there to do work after everyone went to work for the day. Insurance covered a lot of the stuff stolen but it couldn't replace things with sentimental value like family jewelry. The worst thing was them feeling violated that someone they didn't know had been in their house and through their belongings.
  24. From 1995-2012 dairy subsidies to Wisconsin farmers totaled 1.1B which doesn't come close to the billions the state got last year:http://farm.ewg.org/progdetail.php?fips=55000&progcode=dairy As I said in my prior post federal money goes to states for various subsidies amongst other things and I have no doubts more went to farmers in Wisconsin but please show me a source that shows most of that 83B going to dairy farmers. I'm not the smartest guy in the world but if I claim certain facts I at least present the source.
