  1. Obviously this is what the Angels were thinking too. Better to sit there and take it like a horrible lay in the ALDS rather than face the possibility of going against Beastgarner in the WS.
  2. This was a classic World Series up there with the 91, 97 and 01 World Series in recent memory which a lot of fans will remember due to game 7. Outside of some Angel fans no one is going to care that the Angels won the AL West or the most games during the 2014 season. As much as it must suck for KC and their fans they have a lot to be proud of.
  3. As Stradling said Lebron wasn't coming to LA. Carmelo had the chance to go to Miami to form the big 4 and when his list of top choices came out Miami wasn't one of them. If he wasn't going there to play with Bosh, Wade, Lebron (assuming he stayed) and that supporting cast what makes you think he would come to LA? The only answer is a pipe dream which wasn't going to happen and you're blaming Kobe for it. The Lakers are going to have to rebuild and weren't going to form a super team by signing guys below market value.
  4. Pau is playing on a younger team that is much more talented all around than anything the Lakers will be able to field for a few years at the very least. The Bulls won 48 games last year while being the top defensive team in the league as far as points allowed. They accomplished this with Derrick Rose playing in only 10 games and having him back is huge. I think Pau still has plenty in the tank but him leaving the Lakers was by far the best thing for him. What he did last night the Lakers pretty much would have needed out of him over the course of a season for any chance at competing.
  5. Even if Kobe took less the odds that the Lakers fielded a contender in his last few years would be very slim. They would have needed Kobe, Nash and Pau to play like they did 3-5 years ago while someone like Dwight stuck around as option C or D. They're rebuilding and it's going to be a long process after years of trading away picks, overpaying for veterans and not making much use of the picks they did have. Their best bet after this season is that they get a top 5 pick which is protected as far as the whole Nash trade goes.
  6. Hamilton and all our Rondons for Bumgarner. Awesome series. Congrats to San Fran.

  8. -Saints/Panthers on Thursday night will hopefully be a good game with the division lead on the line -Arizona/Dallas is a big game in the NFL and hoping Romo can play -Broncos/Patriots is of course the game I'm looking forward to most -Baltimore/Pitt Sunday night will be a huge game for the NFC north lead
  9. Game clock was stopped after the spike and a delay of game has always been a five yard penalty without a loss of a down. Had they ran they play and got called for any other penalty I'd agree but that was handled just like it always has been.
  10. Really liking the early London game. Atlanta is just terrible, they had some bad penalties and I don't understand some of their play calling. They have one of the most athletic WR's in the league in Julio and they ignore him for multiple drives.
  11. He went 8th overall because of his size and upside at the most overvalued position in the NFL draft. We had this discussion when he was drafted and some people were wondering why he would choose football over baseball after his stock slipped. As Brandon pointed out financially it was a no brainer and it was also the game that he appeared to prefer to play. The guy is far from done as an NFL QB as some team will give him another shot because he's young and talented enough for some team needing depth to at least give him a shot as a backup.
  12. I wasn't too sure when I heard who the main villain was because quite honestly it wasn't one I remembered but that looks awesome.

  14. Any time we go to LB Legends is usually packed and as mentioned the fact that it's a neighborhood bar that's walking distance for people living in the area is a huge plus. We went to the OC sports grill during the season before a game and aside from being near the stadium it didn't really seem to have much else going for it.
  15. Denver gets SD on 3 days rest after playing the Sunday night game so it's not like SD is at a huge disadvantage. Regardless of how both teams did last week it's San Diego so I expect it to be close.
  16. Not sure how someone is overrated when they're one of the greatest to ever play their position. These days too many things are touted as the greatest or the best by the media while he actually lives up to it. The knock will always be that he choked at times in the playoffs because that's about the only negative thing you can say. I enjoyed watching Peyton play before he came to Denver and it's even more enjoyable seeing him do what he's done as a Bronco the last 3 years.
  17. Like any new tax or tax increase my problem with this is that it stems from the mismanagement of what is already brought in. Local and federal officials have shown time and time again that they can't manage what they do bring in and until they do no one should be supporting any tax increases or new taxes. Amazingly though people vote for it kind of like the last elections where the good voters of CA could come together to raise taxes on high earners retroactively to the beginning of the year. Never mind the fact that it was touted as being for the schools and only half of the revenue increase was actually required to be spent on education.
  18. Considering what the Seahawks have accomplished over the last so many years without having star receivers I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but it's still a huge risk. I know statistically he was having a quiet season but his presence lining up as a receiver or coming across for a hand off was still something opposing teams had to defend against. They get out of paying his salary going forward but they no longer have Tate either and will be relying even more than last year on their D and run game. If any team in the NFL can do it on a strong run game and defense it's them but I definitely wasn't expecting to see him moved.
  19. Of course there's a correction coming as the market is full of ups and downs, always has been and always will be. Whether it's fear driving the market down or the belief that nothing can go wrong driving the market up emotions impact the market and most investors can't separate their emotions from investing and it ends up biting them in the ass. Obviously the fed involvement with QE is impacting the market and it will continue to do so until everything is unwound which won't be for quite a while. Personally I'll continue to make bi-weekly 401K contributions and monthly contributions to my Roth IRA and taxable accounts because I'm a long term investor who follows a DCA approach. Anyone trying to time the market isn't going to be successful 99% of the time. Sure you may get out of stocks/mutual funds/index funds and move into a MM or bond funds to preserve wealth but then you have to try and time when to get back in. I know people who did that during 2008 and 2009 and gloated when the market went down only to miss out on the upswing as they stayed in those investments too long.
  20. Halowham you have 2 top 12 fantasy QB's so I wouldn't really be in a hurry to trade a top 3 WR for another QB even one as good as Rodgers. How many WR's do you start in any given week because Thomas, Nelson and Jeffery are pretty much 3 must starts if they're healthy. If anything I'd be trying to move one of your QB's, one of your WR's and/or one of your RB's not named Forte for an upgrade at RB. If you can sell high on Hillman because who knows how that backfield plays out and he's not a big guy so there's the question of him staying healthy.

  23. Mathews is average at best and like Glen said he had one good year which was last year. As much as I wanted to see San Diego lose I give them credit for getting the win which is something they likely wouldn't have done under Norv. No matter how crappy the Raiders are division games are the hardest to predict and I never consider any division game a given. I expect the Denver/SD game in a few weeks to come down to the wire and I'm already having flashbacks to their TNF game last year in December.
  24. Agreed. It's stupid that they are risking the health of everyone else and not quarantining these flights yet I'm not surprised.
