Do you guys really think that the Cards would take Aybar for Miller straight-up?  Not a chance...
 
He's about as valuable a trade commodity as currently exists in baseball.  Top of the rotation stuff, controllable with a ton of upside.
 
From what I've been hearing, Miller/Adams + prospect for Tulo or Profar. 
 
I honestly dont see anything of value the Angels could offer that would entice the Cards. 
 
Now, if you want Lance Lynn/Freeman for Aybar...that may be plausable.

I respect MCarver for what he's meant to the game over the years.  Yeah, the McCarver of the last few year's wasn't his best, but he's not the last guy to stay on longer than was wise.  When it's been your life's work as a player and broadcaster, it's hard to stop.

How have they (we) been proven wrong? Because Arte Moreno continues to wastefully spend? At some point even he'll hit a limit - I'm just hoping it comes AFTER extending Trout, not before.
 
From your reply I take it that you believe the fact that the Angels have $88MM in 2014 tied up in five players (Including Vernon Wells) doesn't impact Dipoto's and Moreno's roster decisions? A number that, in 2016, will balloon $97 million for four players?
 
I take it that you disbelieve the notion that its better to spend $20MM+ on an aging--but proven!--veteran (e.g. Wells, Pujols, Hamilton), than a few million or less on an untried but rising young player, or a lesser known veteran player who ends up producing close to, or even, as well as said aging veteran?
 
I don't care how wealthy an owner is, ALL have their limits. Its a GM's job to assemble the best team they can within those limits. That means the game is partially, even largely, about getting value per dollar. For example, in most cases its better to spend $2MM on a 2 WAR player than $15MM on a 3 WAR player - because the extra $12MM can be used to improve the team elsewhere.

What's worse is angels fans getting annoyed by these types of articles and claiming cardinals fans can't get over it
