I will never, ever stop loving baseball. But my love for the Angels isn't what it used to be. 
I'm fine with the team not overpaying for free agent pitching. But if you won't acquire pitching in that manner, you have two options: develop your own or trade for someone else's. They are unable to do the former. If they refuse to do the latter... what is their plan? The same as it's been the last few seasons? 

Yeah I'm just not the type to like watching other teams play each other outside of October. If I stopped watching the Angels and started focusing on another team in time I would develop the same love. 
The problem is they need more than just one more arm. So trading for Castillo isn't it and it's going to cost them the future. Free agency costs money, but allows you to develop the farm which long term will save you money. Trading the farm away now just means they will be in a worse position than they are in now if those trade targets don't pan out or leave for free agency.

The day is not over.  Never underestimate the Angels front office to do something utterly stupid.

Ok here's an idea, plans a, b, c, d, e, and f are all good pitchers. Plan A, Syndergaard because Minasian saw something they can correct. Great. Plan b, Scherzer. Ok, Mets blew their wad on him. Fine. Pivot, plan c is Ray, plan d is Stroman. Plan e was Jon Gray but Texas decided to spend with the big boys. No problem, we have alternatives. Plan f is trading for Castillo. 
But NONE of these plans involve spending money otherwise set aside for pitching, on a freaking shortstop. 
Also, the Harvey-Cahills of the world are NOT something we pivot to. Ever. You might as well just roll the dice with Barria, Detmers, Davis etc... Before spending on another reclamation project. We have enough of those. 
Do not pivot to position players or bad pitchers. It doesn't work. 

This question reminds me of when Angels signed Pujols and there was literally a thread pontificating whether Pujols would be a better angel than Salmon.  

Rangers just trolling the Angels at this point. Watch them trade for Castillo for the lulz.

I don’t care that he rejected the QO but I’d like to emphasize that I think the bow tie sucks.  I think he’s a tiny bitch baby.  Ok.  Nothing else to add on this for now.

I’d be pretty leery committing long-term to Syndergaard given his health.
Perhaps a one-year deal offers some hope that Arte will be willing to spend a little more than expected this winter. 

Advising a three-time MVP on his offseason training routine is just about the most AW thing ever. 

I don’t really think most fans are “eager to trade Marsh and/or Adell.”
I think fans are simply eager to solve the ongoing problem of the team clearly lacking the quality starting pitching necessary to contend.
Finally having some bodies of value as possible trade pieces causes fans to pay attention to that way of possibly solving the problem.
I am eager to see a better team on the field.  That might mean sign pitchers and watch Adell and Marsh as Angels.  And it might mean one of them gets traded.
I think the high interest is in fixing the problem, not specifically in trading those guys away.
