GrittyVeterans reacted to UndertheHalo in Scoring Runs
Upton is cool as guy to have around with the other good bats but on his own he’s mostly not worth thinking about. Stassi is good but I mean he’s probably due for some regression with the bat. Still not a guy you really worry about on his own. Iglesias isn’t horrible but also not really great with the bat. Again not worth thinking about.

it doesn't matter. get the premium prospect for the most desirable FA you have, then sign him in the off season if he likes so cal so much and you want him back. all the angels did was forgo getting the premium prospect.

Schwarber to first now for them but Ward could have played some first vs. Lefties.
CWS could use some OF depth. MIL probably. SFG - Alex Dickerson has turned into a pumpkin. Every one of their OF's is LHed.
He's got an .845 ops vs. LHers this year. And a 100 ops+ overall. Right now he's a league avg hitter who can play multiple positions.
you might not like him but he's not horrible. Just what he is.

It took you this long? LOL
Do yourself a favor and just check the box score...maybe watch a game once a week. Moving to the East Coast has done wonders for me. I'm never living and dying by it

GrittyVeterans got a reaction from BritAngel in OK Perry, time to sell
We have so much money tied up in Upton/Rendon/Trout next year that it’s going to be tough to build the pitching we need.
The bottom line is you have to sell whatever you can and hope the arms you get in return can contribute at some point next season. Also at some point we have to say fuck everything else and just go after flame throwers in the off-season. Spend the entire budget on bullpen
Were stuck in purgatory right now. We’ve gone heavy drafting pitching, great. We’re making the right move of not converting them to relievers until they show us they need to be. But that’s also the problem. Most of them are still so early in their development that we can’t find a role for them.
Honestly, it would be great if we had a few guys who had already flamed out as starters who were ready to be relievers from day 1 next year. I’m just not seeing it though yet. A guy like C-Rod is the epitome of what I’m talking about. You want him to be a starter or at least a multi-inning guy so you send him down and let him develop properly. But there’s zero doubt that right now the team would benefit from him being the 8th inning guy

GrittyVeterans reacted to Lhalo in Gameday Thread: Angels @ A's (7/20/21): Suarez on the mound, Ohtani DHing, 12:37pm start time
He knows his BP is dogshit but takes out his starter at 73 pitches because the batter had a hit off him earlier? What a terrible excuse for an absolute piss poor decision.

Well, in his defense, he was hurt for basically 2 whole years. He was the 16th overall draft pick in 2015, so it's not like he's just some bum.

Angels vs A's so far this season

He had 73 pitches! That’s unreal

They have to fire these umpires. All of them. Slows the game down…

GrittyVeterans reacted to Docwaukee in Official 2021 Trade Deadline Discussion Thread
they're in a win now period? Could have fooled me with the approach they're taking.
2021 is over. If you think they have a chance this year then I have nothing for you.
If you think that 2022 is going to be better then fine but in order to bring in the talent they need via trade to actually contend and be at a level which actually should ensure that then they actually do need to raze the farm. Because one big trade for that arm you're talking about pretty much does that.
They're a .500 team and are going to need an entire bullpen next year along with a front line starter. And probably other in terms of rotation depth. It's astounding to me that people think Detmers and Rodriguez are going to step in and not have growing pains. They're in AA.
The Red Sox have had just about everything possible go their way this year. That's what we rely on every year seemingly.
You're hoping that Perry gets to do something totally different than anything his predecessors have been allowed to do at any point over the last 10 years?
I'm not gonna hold my breath.

GrittyVeterans reacted to Stradling in Wish we still had Jahmai Jones....
Sorry but I can’t get on the side of missing Jones. We have much better players that would be blocking him. He’s be on the 40 man roster and does he add any more value than Rojas, Mayfield, Gosselin, Ward, Rengifo, Wong, Marsh, Adell Fletcher or Iglesias? He was used to get our second best starter this year. He was incredibly redundant, Cobb isn’t. It was possibly the best case scenario, we traded fringe redundancy and got a pitcher who actually performed and is a prime trade chip or extension candidate. Being upset about losing Jones isn’t really about losing Jones, it’s about other decisions they’ve made before that.

Suzuki won’t be back next year. Washed up awful player

Better spend some real fucking money on bullpen help

They're being smart managing his workload and he was at 96 pitches. I'm good with how they've handled him this year. Not a Maddon fan, but this bullpen, outside of Iglesias, is horrendous

I already enjoy him more than Sutton
i still find the Vasgersian situation strange. I hope he stops doing Sunday Night Baseball next season

GrittyVeterans reacted to Stradling in Official 2021 MLB draft thread
The development of these pitchers is all that matters. It certainly seems like we are seeing a ton of steps forward on the mound this year in the minors and with guys like Sandoval and Suarez. Hopefully the guys being brought in create some talented depth going forward.

He's only 7 years older than Sutton.

GrittyVeterans reacted to rafibomb in The Official 2021 Los Angeles Angels Minor League Stats, Reports & Scouting Thread
Brandon Marsh was 2-4 with a walk and 2 runs scored today. He is now 9-23 (.391) with 5 extra base hits since returning to Salt Lake. Am I crazy to think he might be up in the Majors sooner rather than later if he keeps this up especially with all the problems in the outfield?

Thank god. He was terrible IMO. Nothing against him, seemed like a good guy, but just not the right guy for that job
Matty V is a good one and I think they can find a better part time guy

Gubicza is like the team mascot Clown at this point. Can’t get rid of him, everyone within the org clearly loves him. No matter how terrible he is. Sutton wasn’t at that level
