IIIII reacted to Inside Pitch in Matt Thaiss
Dude had a babip in the .150 range before getting hot.... All the HRs of late have helped keep his babip down but he was bound to see his luck change.
Let's see him do it for longer than a stretch against Baltimore and Detroit.

IIIII reacted to tdawg87 in Olney: Teams interested in Goodwin
I really, really don't get the narrative.
The facts speak otherwise. He has a 118 OPS+ as an Angel. His career OPS+ is 120. Outside of this year, which he has admittedly been poor since coming back, he's been exactly as advertised.
Would you guys prefer Nava or Matt Joyce? Or any of the other crap the Angels have thrown out in LF since GA left? You have to go all the way back to 2003(!!!) to find better production from the position than what Upton did last year.
People will say that Goodwin is the better option. Goodwin has certainly had a great year, but he has a .360 BABIP, much higher than his career average of .333. Upton's is .279, much lower than his career average of .329. Who is more likely to be better going forward? I'll take the guy who isn't having a career year enhanced by a career high BABIP.

Upton has been pretty ass since we signed him. His ability to hit with runners on in any form is absolutely atrocious and considering that's his main job, he's failing. Still you would expect him to return to his form 2 years ago before Goodwin shows he's this good consistently. At the moment Goodwin should be playing but it doesn't entirely matter anymore.

IIIII reacted to mmc in A Jason Vargas trade is close...
The Phillies gave up nothing. I would have no problem with the Angels getting him for the same price.

Up until the terrible game yesterday he had a 3.10 era which is better than he was last year. One terrible game doesn't paint the whole picture but some of the advanced stats are a bit worrying.

IIIII reacted to tdawg87 in No Trout or Pujols tonight against Cole
Wrong. Pujols has been the MVP this series.
Idiot.
With all due respect.

IIIII got a reaction from ettin in Fletcher, Rengifo and Smith
Smith is a 31 year old catcher, so I don’t really see him improving or being a building block of the future. The other 2 I totally agree about. I’m actually okay with the constant rotation of older catchers. It’s worked quite well the last few years imo.

Via Jeff Fletcher as always. Woohoooo

I love this line:
“the Seattle Mariners, who are a bad enough baseball team that you wonder how General Manager Jerry DiPoto still has a job.”

Why ruin what’s going on right now for this. I also think the idea that you haven’t played baseball if you don’t think you throw at him is asinine. I played for 17 years and still think it’s ridiculous given that we’ll have a pitcher ejected and we don’t have anything to spare. Also it could end up igniting the Astros who are 2-3 over their last 5. Just not worth it at all right now.

I've done it before.
I'm no longer allowed at the batting cages.

IIIII reacted to Jeff Fletcher in Throw at Marisdick
I don’t know about that. They certainly can’t afford to have a pitcher ejected at the beginning of the game or suspended. They may throw at him sometime, but there are other factors that determine when and who.

IIIII got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Gameday Thread: Astros @ Angels 7/15/2019 (Trout out, Hermosillo in CF)
That was some of the worst pitching I’ve ever seen. 6 walks and 4 wild pitches in 1 inning. I would be surprised if that’s been done before

Update: He's still scheduled for an MRI.

IIIII reacted to yk9001 in Mike Trout to Undergo MRI Tomorrow
Ramon was the pool guy who tried to befriend Jerry, but Jerry wasn't interested. There was a big to-do at the health club, and both Jerry and Newman got their memberships revoked.

IIIII reacted to Blarg in Can Cody Bellinger hold off Mike Trout?

I’m not religious at all but this was beyond human comprehension. I’m crying. I’ll never forget this my whole life. Sports transcend can the game. Just a loss for words.
