AngelsFaninGA got a reaction from Tyler in Red Alert
Even if we trade for him, he'd just put up a 5 ERA here.

So how long before we get our first Sunday lineup with McDonald playing in place of Howie and hitting 6th?

We'll probably beat King Felix and then get shut down by the unknowns, as usual.

AngelsFaninGA got a reaction from meat in Will today be Blanton's last game as an Angel ...
Blanton is currently providing a negative return. So dumping him and realizing a 0 return is still better. It's like the spoiled milk I had in my fridge this weekend. I can either keep drinking it until I finish it so I that I can justify to myself the 3 bucks I paid for it (because it was some fancy organic milk), or I can throw it out and save myself the hours on the toilet.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to markb in Long or Shuck?
Long all day looooong.
I think I've made it pretty clear previously I'm no Shuck fan. He's that double whammy of zero power and low OBP. The guy hits for decent average and does absolutely nothing else particularly well. Long can take a walk and has some decent power.
Shuck did post a solid OBP in the minors of .382, but a hilariously bad SLG that was a point lower at .381. At the major league level he just has zero intimidation factor, and pitchers are perfectly willing to throw him strikes and take their chances. Of course as I type this he hits his 5th freaking triple of the spring.
Bottom line, If a guy who has a spring like Long has had can't get a shot at taking a job from a replacement level player, then what are they even doing out there?

AngelsFaninGA got a reaction from AngelsAndRamsFan in LA Times: Joe Blanton still has a shot to stick with Angels
That's still about a 5.40 ERA. Have we really lowered our standards that much, that an ERA well north of 5 is good enough?

Rawlings is working to orchestrate a deal sending Blanton to the Rockies as we speak. Earnings will be through the roof in Q2 and Q3.

AngelsFaninGA got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Cano will hit 15 bombs this year.
Is that 15 total, or 15 against the Angels? Or maybe 15 against Joe Blanton?

AngelsFaninGA got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Report: Phillies turn unsigned draft pick in to NCAA for using an agent
Did the Phillies turn in any of the players they did sign that used agents? No, of course not, because they signed. This has nothing to do with principle, morals, or NCAA rules, it's only about the Phillies deciding to get revenge on a player for not signing. .

AngelsFaninGA got a reaction from Vladdylonglegs in How many starts will Blanton get with the Angels?
17. He'll go 1-13 with a 7.78 ERA and at long last will finally be put down sometime in July.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to Docwaukee in Capuano off the board
I am honestly disappointed with the lack of depth that has been created for this team. They have had multiple opportunities to improve the team in that realm even if only to create some level of redundancy in the 6, 7, 8, SP positions. Even if Blanton was part of the plan all along (which I now believe he was), you are relying on Shoemaker and LeBlanc as depth. On top of the fact that you are entering the season with 3 guys slated for the rotation who have never pitched in a major league rotation for a full season.
If they succeed with this current setup, it won't be because it was the right way to do it but because they got very lucky.
Capuano/Maholm/Hammel etal are not more talented than any one of Richards, Santiago, or Skaggs but thats not why we need them. It's because they are more talented than Blanton, Shoemaker and Wade LeBlanc.
I really hope it works out as I will be cheering for it to, but don't be surprised if Jarret Grube is making the occasional spot start in June/July.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to Brent Maguire in Official: Garza to Brewers
Last 2 years:
Matt Garza- 259 IP 3.86 ERA 3.99 FIP 8.06 K/9 2.57 BB/9 1.22 HR/9 3.4 WAR
Chris Capuano- 304 IP 3.91 ERA 3.81 FIP 7.19 K/9 2.31 BB/9 1.07 HR/9 3.2 WAR
Seriously, Garza is a big difference maker and Capuano isn't? Garza has been marginally better the past 2 years.

AngelsFaninGA reacted to Mark68 in Signing Matt Garza would alienate every female Angel fan...
I don't want the Angels to sign Garza. Not because he's a douche, but because he's on the wrong side of 30 and is made of glass.
