Love Starting With Seattle Pitching

Wish the opening series was longer.  After Felix,  their pitching staff is very thin.  Releasing Scott Baker makes Randy Wolf their #4 starter with a 5.65 ERA in 26 games started in 2012.  James Paxton has 4 games started in 2013 with a 3.18 ERA this spring.  Erasmo Ramirez with a 0.96 Spring ERA has only 21 MLB starts.  Roenis Elias at 2.04 ERA this spring has no MLB starts and pitched in AA last year.  At least their arms beyond Felix and Wolf are young but this seems to be a lot of pressure on some very unproven and in Wolf's case suspect arms.

Baker was released???!?!? Why the hell didn't you grab him Dipoto????

Probably because in 12 IP he walked 7 batters, hit 3 with pitches and K'ed 1 person while running a 12 H/9.

Spring stats don't matter and all ... but man did he look like hot garbage on the mound.

I assume he was being sarcastic. I seem to recall more than a few Angel fans wanting Dipoto to sign him 2-3 months ago.

This is truly a bizarre turn of events.  Randy Wolf makes the team as their #4 starter due to injuries to their better pitchers and is offered a contract if he will sign a 45 day release that lets the Mariners release him within 45 days and only pay for time served.  Randy Wolf declines to sign this 45 day release and is cut by the Mariners.   All of this BS over a million dollar contract.  I hope that whomever is brought up from the minors works out and Seattle gets hit with having this pitcher's service clock started earlier and it costs them a bundle.  This seems like a lousy way to run a MLB franchise.

Not going to be much of a difference between Blake Beaven and Randy Wolf honestly. Both suck.

Sounds like Seattle asked Wolf to sign a consent to accept outright assignment form. Multiple execs tell me it’s common for vets w/5+ years.

Apparently it is common what the M's asked him to do? Oh well. He got butthurt and left.
