HOLY SHIT, NO HITTER! Aided by our Angel on the Mound
-
Trout grounded out, he must be slumping again.....
-
Well seeing how Ohtani's priority is being a two way player, I'm pretty sure if the Angels tried to convert him to only hitting (Which they won't), he'll either go back to Japan or sign with a different team when he hits FA, that would let him be a two way player. He is more valuable as a two way player than either as just a hitter or just a pitcher.
Also in before Ohtani goes into a slump and someone creates a thread "Should Ohtani only be a pitcher next year?".....

I've honestly felt that this season we were a pretty good team with the pieces to be a great team once our young guys start to mature. Life decided to royally F*ck with this team this year, and yet we are still close to .500.
Think about it:
Our best pitcher is still rehabbing from TJ, he also happens to be our second best hitter and didn't start hitting until into the season
Our starting LF stubbed his toe and was out for a few months.
Our starting SS rolled his ankle and was out but for for much less than anticipated.
Our 4th Outfielder who was also having a pretty good season is on the IL with a wrist contusion.
Both our starting and backup catchers are on the IL.
Our second 2019 All Star hit a foul ball and broke his shin.
Our team leader in wins and strikeouts died during the season.
Looking at all of the above crap our team has had to go through this season, the fact we are one game below .500 is actually a pretty damn positive sign, I mean the team went 3-3 after one of our players died for christ sake, when something like could have spiraled the team into a losing streak that would have been completely understandable, especially with 2 of the starting pitchers being particularly close to Skaggs.
Anyone who complains about this team this year and says that Eppler didn't do his damn best to put the best team on the field has obviously not been paying attention, the rotation was setup to be pretty solid for years to come with Ohtani, Skaggs, Canning, Suarez, and Heaney making for what was going to be a damn fine rotation with Skaggs being our bulldog until he passed away.
I'm happy with the team that Eppler put together around Trout, but nobody can account for the real life stuff that happens during the season. I still believe this team can make the playoffs as a wild card, Canning will only get better as he makes more starts, baby Bartolo looks like he should develop into a solid hand, Fletcher is everything we have needed in an "Eckstein" type player but I think he is a better hitter and fielder than Eckstein. We're one really good run away from competing for a WC spot this year.

I think Marisnick intended to barrel over Lucroy, kind of like players of yore would, but when he realized he seriously hurt Lucroy he had an "Oh shit" moment and felt terrible about it. Honestly if this was 20 years ago it would have just been seen as part of being a Catcher, but now with concussion protocols and the like it makes Marisnick look bad. I'm sure he didn't intend to knock Lucroy out, but he obviously stepped into charging over him.

Yeah, I don't think anyone could blame him for being off tonight. Honestly I'm fairly certain the Angels just wanted to get the hell out of Arlington. Aside from the hotel (where they switched) they had essentially been in the same location since Skaggs died. Canning is a great kid with a bright future, he obviously had the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Should be fixed as soon as I upgrade my server to PHP 7x and then upgrade the forum software.
@Thomas is a Linux/PHP guy so he's going to help with the PHP upgrade soon.
Sorry @Chuckster70 obviously this week ended up being a bad week for all of us. Don't worry it's still on my radar.
Let's revisit this hopefully this coming up week. My only concern looking at the quote above is that I have no experience with certs on PHP, as my company is exclusively IIS (Windows Server).
The good news is the process of doing a cert (Fill out cert info including SAN, Generate CSR from PHP, paste it in GoDaddy, generate cert, import cert in PHP, configure HTTP redirect to HTTPS) is fairly similar. So I'm happy to help in any small way I can.

Any thread that starts with "Tdawg" can go one of 2 ways:
1.) Crimes against humanity
2.) Something something masturbation
I'm seriously thankful for the AW community for keeping things on a lighter tone. Baseball is usually the refuge from the stresses of life, but its been a hard week for all of us.

Moving that Pechanga sign really pissed off some ancient spirits or something...what the actual F*ck

This is going to be a rough one to watch. I was going back and forth on whether or not to watch tonight's game.
Baseball in its purest form is still good, and Tyler is gonna be cheering his teammates on from above, so I'll be watching.

Just want to put this here as a snapshot in time. As of today 7/01/2019 Tyler Skaggs is the team leader in Wins and Strikeouts.

@John Taylor I'm back from vacation, when you get a chance let's have a phone chat.
I would like to do this.
Sounds like a plan. I work straight through until Sunday, but I'm free Sunday night or Monday anytime to talk. Also I didn't forget about the fact I promised an AW donation, lol
I still have your cell in my phone, so I'll shoot you a text sometime this weekend to touch base.

I thought you meant my cousin Jesús Bourjesus from Mexicali.

Tommy La Stella has the 3rd highest fangraphs WAR in the AL at 2B. Barely ahead of Whit Merrifield.
I dig what he's done, but some of you may want to prepare for butt hurt.
Though, so many guys make it now (especially after the injury bow outs).. he has a good shot at being a reserve.
Good point, but honestly like a few people above, this is the most invested I've been in a while to get one of our guys in as a starter. Trout is automatic, but Tommy is a dark horse. Also its cool to see Cubs fans come out and vote for him. I'm also hoping Fletch gets in as a reserve.

Trout pr0n is best pr0n.

Johnthan Lucroy for literally anybody. Hell trade Craig Counsell from managing the Brewers to the Marlins, unretire him and trade him for Lucroy.
-
Top 2 posts on reddit.com/r/CHICubs are about voting in La Stella (Including my post thanking Cubs fans for the vote bump)
All the responses to my post have been positive, and a bunch of Cubs fans are voting him in, but dammit lets make this shit a landslide and get out the vote!

i honestly don't feel right projecting a baseball team's success against the death of a player. I think the best anyone can ask for is that the players go out there and play their hearts out and try to have the most fun they can to honor Tyler, no matter what the end result ends up being. Last night was special, and was really something you couldn't script.
