The whole idea that Trout should be dinged because he's teammates with Joe Blanton, Tommy Hanson, Josh Hamilton, etc. instead of good baseball players still seems awfully stupid to me.

This. The reason his DWAR was so low was he assisted a few homers in going over the wall which would have remained in the park otherwise. His 4 HR robberies in 2012 was also the reason his DWAR was so high that year. IMO That suggest home run robberies are a bit over-emphasized.

This is not always, strictly speaking true. Just watch the Angels get hot in September/October only to not get a top-10 draft pick. Such unfortunately timed high level of play would also Moreno/Dipoto that we're just one more highly expensive draft-pick-compensation-attached big splash free agent acquisition away from contending

This is seriously the worst ****ing way to implement instant replay. Instead of trying to emulate the NFL in 1987, why not make it easy and have a 5th umpire somewhere who can review video replay? Jesus Christ, I cannot stand Selig and this organization.

Then when Walden goes to Atlanta, he goes lights out?  And Santana?  And Chatwood?  And even Kazmir becomes servicable?  
 
And I'm not talking only about retreads.  How is it Maronde, and Kohn can look so good in the minors, then turn into complete pumpkins when they get to the MLB level?  Frieri comes from a different system, and looks unstoppable.  But once in our system for a while, he looks utterly clueless?
 
When it happens once, sure it's possible.  Twice, even possible.  But after a while, when it happens over and over again, it can't be coincidence.  

Angels should offer $180M or so but over longer -- 15 years -- with a huge portion of that ($40M or more) paid in year one.  As far as the luxury tax goes, that's based on average annual value, but a big payday right up front would be hard to turn down.

This forum is turning into a bunch of overly-attached girlfriends when it comes to speculation over Trout's distant future.

with Trout being back in the Tri state area, in Yankee stadium, back with family/friends in the area, etc? 
 
All this stuff doesn't factor with somebody when free agency rolls around, right? 
 
I'm sure management will come to something long term with Trout before free agency is even an option, at least I hope so.
