Trout isn't capable of being a vocal superstar, so i wouldn't expect it. It wouldn't be hard for even Trout to do more than nothing.
This would be a perfect example of him taking an active leadership role in the sport he plays. It would be a perfect time to create any kind of national persona except "best player to never win a playoff game". Or "Eagles season ticket holder".
I'm sorry he isn't what you want him to be.
I guess we'll just have to settle for having the acknowledged "best player in baseball" on our team and hope we aren't docked wins for him not being more outspoken and tiresome.

Fletcher has pointed out more than once that if ever there was an opportunity to manipulate service time, it was with Ohtani two years ago. No one would have blinked if he had started the season in AAA.
While I don't expect Adell to be ready yet, if he hits "15 homers" in ST and doesn't break camp with the team, I will be disgusted.
They could have done it with Trout as well...the only reason he started 2012 late with the team was due to illness:
"Mike Trout showed up in spring training in 2012 with a mysterious illness. He had lost 15 pounds and was too weak to play in the initial Cactus League games. The Angels described the illness as a type of flu bug or virus. Trout was taking medication although doctors could not pinpoint the exact condition, after ruling out a thyroid disorder or Valley Fever. The result was that his chances of making the big league team shrank to nothing, and he was assigned to the AAA Salt Lake Bees to start the season." -

Huh. I never heard him say that. Well that’s interesting. My feedback is they are dumb to not play the game. An extra year versus a few weeks? That’s a bad deal for the team and the fans.

Angels won't bring him up until May to avoid starting the clock early on him.
Fletcher has said on numerous occasions that the Angels don't try to manipulate service time...

Man, that's disappointing. What he really needs to say is:
"Phew, I am desperate for starting pitching! Des-per-ate! I'm working those phones and talking to anyone who will listen 'Have you seen my rotation?! I needs help, yo! Won't someone help a man out?!' I've got my knee pads on and I am ready and am willing to do what it takes."
It's professional and it shows he's really, really trying...
Really..

How to say nothing in 52 words.
Well, considering Rosenthal, Heyman, Passan, etc have been putting words in the Angels' mouth the past couple of weeks the Angels front office apparently had little left they needed to say.

I'm just saying I can at least understand people being upset about this given what little info is out there.
Yeah, agreed, it sucks...I'd have love to have had Stripling and Pederson on this team, especially with 3 years of control for Stripling
Either way, it tells me Eppler is still working and trying to find out-of-the-box ways to improve the starting pitching so I don't think we are done.

Meh.. I dont blame anyone for having an emotional reaction to news that Arte may have had an emotional reaction. But, I am curious to see how anyone would think that this year's pitching staff projects to give up 875 runs ... The math doesn't jive for me.
I just have trouble getting too emotional about something I have very little info about other than we heard something vague about Arte "getting emotional".
Seems to me there was a deal in place, Boston was caught off guard by their fans extremely negative reaction, their asses puckered so they started "hmm"-ing about some medical records as the reason for the delay while going back to the Dodgers saying "we need more", so Dodgers go back to the Angels and say "agreed to terms have changed, we now need ____", and then Arte said "eat a dick"
Should he have said "eat a dick" and just agreed to the changed terms? Don't have an opinion until I know the terms. I just know the people that usually like being angry at Arte are now enjoying their moment being angry at Arte...so, good for them.

Tehran is the only improvement on that list.
Factor for a 6 man rotation when Ohtani comes back, no more Skaggs and other than Tehran and Bundy a bunch of guys that are always injured.
Skaggs accounted for only 79 innings last season and averaged less than 100.0 IP per season for the last 4 seasons...yeah, tough to replace that.

Cool, so the Angels can lose games 10-5 instead of 10-4
So, with the additions of Teheran, Bundy, and Andriese our pitching didn't improve? Weird...

This entire clusterf*ck of a trade summed up this failed offseason perfectly.
Arte’s emotions continue to handcuff this organization.
Hopefully Eppler can pull a miracle out of his ass and get something else done but at this point I highly doubt it. Joc and Stripling would’ve been very nice additions to this roster. A real shame this didn’t go down as planned.
"Failed offseason" haha

Also find it a bit silly when I see comments like "why aren't the Angels/Arte/Eppler/the front office saying something about the trade?" when, you know, what if they didn't leak anything about the trade, would have preferred they kept it under wraps but now have this nonsense distraction. Eppler seems to work in stealth and, while you give up some control when your plan involves 4 teams, two of which are the biggest in baseball in terms of fish wrap hype, I don't think it was his style or goal to have it out in the wild. Or, to put it another way, why address anything when you can just shrug and say, "Ya got me, ask the Dodgers".

If indeed this deal has fallen apart my guess is this is what happened.
The Dodgers ended up giving up more than they were going to in the original deal, so they asked the Angels to alter the deal, and they refused to give up more.
Yeah, pretty likely...
Dodgers-Red Sox terms change...so do Angels-Dodgers terms, likely less favorable for the Angels.
I'll sure it will leak at some point.

Ah, so speculation and anger at Arte and Eppler...for reasons. Seems about right...
Astros punishments: suspensions, firings, team gets over, everyone is pissed.

Yeah, they should have just not done anything at this point.
