Lifetime got a reaction from Halos of Anaheim in Angels hire Don Baylor as new hitting coach
Not really. Most players actually have a similar hitting philosophy. His career numbers are a reflection of his abilities to play the game but it really doesn't tell you much about how they would coach.

Ya because the only way anyone else could be held accountable is if they were fired.

Your claim was slow starts out of the gate the last 4 years being a major fsctor. That's simply not true.

Are you seriously complaining that it was a slow start when they were tied, or 1or 2 games out of 1st place? You're trying way too hard HT.

I don't think anyone is going to even remotely mess with Trout.  We'll get him Napoli's ipod just to be safe.

At this point, no one knows if these are the right moves.  All we know is that two guys who's jobs are on the line sat down and tried to decide the best way to proceed in order to keep their jobs.

I think the moves that were made are a clear indication of what was thought of those let go and what is thought of those that were kept.

It could easily be argued that the offense underachieved more than the pitching relative to their respective expectations.  It actually doesn't matter though.  The guys in charge (maybe for the time being) decided that it was in the best interest of the team to do what they did.

Essentially what Mike and JD are telling us is that they are willing to bet their jobs on the fact that Mike Butcher was not the reason this pitching staff failed.  Because if it fails again, everyone is toast.  They have way more to lose in this than anyone.

Both writers site sources inside and outside the organization...they don't name their sources - but it's clearly not speculation.  they're not "guessing" this stuff happened - they're basing it on what those familiar with the situations are telling them.

Everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong.  It was a Murphy's Law type season.  Everything is magnified when that happens.

Lifetime got a reaction from Taylor in Player's View: Who's the Best in the Game?
sure, these players base their assessment mostly on what they see when they face these players. That's a pretty small sample size though. If said player has a particularly good, mediocre, or bad series, it will jade their evaluation. Meanwhile, stats look at performance over a much larger sample and is in fact a much more reliable evaluator than one based on a few games facing a player.

You're generally pretty astute when it comes to actual baseball stuff, which makes it pretty baffling that you exhibit such relative silliness when talking about this.

A lot can change in 4 years. For instance, 4 years ago...

-the Angels were in the ALCS.
-the A's finished 22 games behind the Angels
    -the MARINERS won 85 games
-the Twins won 86 games and the Royals won 65
-the Pirates won 32 fewer games than they did this year

The ONLY guy that's on the books past 4 years is Pujols. Why can't some of you seem to realize that when evaluating whether or not we can afford to sign Trout? If this organization makes moves that make it more competitive and treats Trout with respect as time goes on, if it offers him a fat check that kicks in four years from now, there's a damn good chance he sticks with the Angels.

    Stop being such babies.

the most important player for this teams future and likely the history of the franchise is out of the lineup for a meaningless game when he is hurt and has been struggling and it's a manager saying FU to the fans?

that's a huge stretch even for the MS haters.

When the Angels clinch the division next year (it will happen), I'm going to hop the fence and jump in my neighbors pool. When he gets pissed, I'll justifiably say "If you didn't want people jumping in your pool, you should not have built one".

I don't understand why a visiting team can treat the stadium as their own just because they won a game. If you want to celebrate in a pool, then go to the hotel. Dodgers purposely used the DBacks pool to rub it in their face.
