I'll always be a fan of the team and watch every game on TV, but I won't spend any money going to games until Scioscia is fired.  This level of failure would not be accepted by top class organizations like the Yankees, Red Sox, and Phillies or their fanbases.

You know what -- a person can make an excuse for every move ever by a GM.   Madson and Burnett were hurt and UNABLE to throw when they were signed.  Why is that so hard to understand?  If you sign two guys who CAN'T throw then youre taking significant risk, and you best be signing fall-back options in case they arent ready to answer the bell on opening day.   The fact that the Angels were scouring the waiver wires and made the trade for DDL is because he missed the boat on BOTH of his primary bullpen acquisitions.   Spare me the BS about CJ had the same surgery -- because it's irrelevant.  Many years ago Ken Hill had the same surgery and was done.   Different people, different levels of "injury" and different recoveries.  It was an ignorant gamble made even more precarious because he had traded away a reliever on yet another high risk gamble -- please feel free to dig up my comments on that trade when it happened if before you talk about hindsight.

Everyone seems to have decided to pawn the Pujols and Hamilton deals on Moreno,   Except when Pujols was signed everyone and their brother wrote at length about how expertly Dipoto handled that -- CJ Wilson was quoted as saying Dipoto hinted at the team working on something major behind the scenes.   All the talk about secret meetings and the sort was everywhere and there stood JD beaming with pride when it happened.   Now it's Arte's fault.   BULL EFFING SHIT....

As far as your comparing MLB to any other job.  Get real.   A GM of a baseball team isn't like other jobs but since you brought it up,  I have in fact stood up to my bosses and stood my ground when it was my reputation on the line.  They listened to me, because well, I had a track record of being right. That track record and the success I'd enjoyed allowed me to branch off on my own and take most everyone that worked under me with me....  Considering most of the people that followed me were willing to relocate to IL and FL, I'd argue my having stood my ground instilled them with the confidence to take that leap of faith.   Again, it all depends on what the job and industry is.  But when you're the guy who's ass in on the line based on the success or failure of a venture, you're an idiot if you allow someone else drive your business for you.

Show me a GM that cowers to his owner and I'll show you a team that has no respect for their GM....

I didn't want this team to totally tank the last 6 weeks of the season, in order to get  better draft picks.

I wanted them to tank so that there would be zero chance that Arte would waffle (like he is) about bringing Scioscia back for another season. The indecision being shown now is what I had hoped wouldn't happen. Arte makes some really bad personnel decisions, and I am afraid he is preparing to make another one.  (or make no changes which is the same thing)

So because someone chooses not to spend money on something that frustrates them. Especially when they are losing and giving there hard earned cash to an owner who has proven that he is up to no good. That makes them less of a fan. Heck I had season tickets and I just gave them away the last month of the season because I didn't want to go to the games to watch them suck. Does that make me not a good fan? Because according to you I paid for my seats but then I didn't go to the games. Which is more valuable paying the Angels or actually going to the game.

I am getting really sick and tired of some of the people on this site talking condescendingly to people acting as though they are better fans and think they are higher and mightier than someone else. It is peoples hard earned cash and there is only 24 hours in a day. When something frustrates people and they choose to not continue to watch, pay for or buy gear. It does not make them less or more of a fan. Everyone here or mostly everyone here is a fan of the Angels. Some of you people need to get over yourselves. I have been a die hard Angels fan since I can remember. Let people enjoy what they enjoy and stop comparing yourselves to other people. Talking down to them and shit is really annoying. I love coming to this site and talking Angels baseball with you guys and gals but its really getting to the point where I question whether or not to keep coming here when so many of you guys are filled with just internet venom, that wouldn't say half the stuff you say if you weren't behind your computer screen at home or at the office.

No chance I don't care if he is getting paid 15 to 18 million. I wouldn't sign another over the age of 30 player to a long contract. Pass! Let someone else raise their payroll. The only money the Angels should be worried about is signing Trout to an extension.

The fact the marlins let a player who cost the minimum go, nobody in the NL thought he was worth a 40 man spot and that the Astros, Mariners and White Sox passed implies either we have terrible depth or or scouts are a few standard deviations better than all the teams listed above.
    You decide.

When did Angels become preoccupied with the Rangers teams and their fans. Seriously. The Rangers have been a non factor through out the AL West until the last couple years. Some of you guys piss and moan about the Rangers way to much. It is like being a fan of another team and complaining about Angels fans. We don't do anything. We show up to the game around the 2nd inning and by the leave in the 6th inning. We don't talk smack and we are usually friendly.

this type of argument is so very very tired.  Linking what happens on the field directly to the manager is always a grey area. One can always argue that "it was the player who did x, or failed to do y, or the manager can't help who his personnel is".  This list of possible excuses is endless.

I don't think people in the Fire Scioscia camp (at the very least I can speak for myself) are arguing that it's entirely or even mostly Mike Scioscia's fault that the Angels have missed the playoffs each of the past 4 seasons.  What I would argue is that there is something seriously broken internally with this team, and that new leadership is required.  There are absolutely personnel problems that have nothing to do with Scioscia, but overall when I watch this team (and I watch them just about every night) I see 25 guys doing their own thing, not focused on every pitch.  I see guys not remembering how many outs there are in an inning, I see hitters with no gameplan up at the plate, I see the pitchers and catchers not able to get on the same page, I see a team-wide lack of fundamentals, and a general sense of malaise.  To me, those things all fall under the purview of the manager, and point to a disconnect between the manager/coaches and the players.  I don't doubt that Mike Scioscia can still be a great manager or that he's putting everything he has into righting the ship here - I just think the relationship clearly isn't working any longer, and it's time for a change.

Let me ask you this - pretty much every other team in MLB has made a managerial change in the last 10 years, as a result of poor on-field results and a desire to change the message to the players and get better.  You think all those teams are foolish and it's the Angels (the same team that traded for Wells, signed Pujols to 10 years, Hamilton to 5, and so on) that are the smart ones? that they see/know something that other organizations don't?

NO! How about we don't lose a first round draft pick and instead start building from within instead of signing over the hill veterans to long term contracts. The Angels have about 3 guys on the team who could play 2nd base no reason to sign someone like Cano

If the Angels are going to extend Trout, they better do it before Harper's deal. Because whatever Boras squeezes out of the Nats will set precedent for Trout's deal.
