I think you may be confusing more ready, with better.
Right now, Marsh might be the better of the two and be the better chance to open '20 in RF, BUT... i doubt we have that same conversation in lets say 2 years.
IF we even consider trading either of them, it needs to be for a no brainer that also makes financial sense., such as a controllable young amazing catcher 

what about Will Smith? Think he could be in a Keuchel type situation too.

Upton has been a very good player over his career so he gets a pass after last season's injury riddled season where he couldn't seem to get his shit right after missing nearly 3 months. 
He's a guaranteed 30-HR, 90-100 RBI guy with a .260/.340/.500 guy when he's healthy.

Obviously, the Halos don't have a Top 25 SP prospect they could give up - Canning would be closest and I imagine he's near untouchable - but the Cubs have some need for young cheap pitching, second base, and outfield. Not to mention the ability to eat some salary, which hopefully brings the value going back down some, depending on what salary is absorbed by the Halos.

Plus, Cubs No 1 prospect is a catcher. Contreras could be expendable

She's from NoCal no doubt, but I believe they both met when they attended UCLA. 
Anyhow, if Cole was truly an Angels fan growing up (which it's pretty obvious he was), how could one sign with the Dodgers (and the A's and  Giants don't have the $$$).
