Sucks... its the right move, but he was fun to pull for. Great team guy, good to fans. A hustler. Even when he forgot how to hit, he was fun as hell to watch play defense.

i wonder if calhoun would be an option as the 4th outfielder, or if he'd even consider that kind of role. he could certainly start for several teams are looking for a quality OF.

He’s not coming back for 4 million or less. A 4th OF for more is poor cap management. I’d prefer to grab Zobrist who can back up any position and is still a batter bat than Kole and will likely cost quite a bit less also.

Financially it had to be done, but i hate it.
It doesnt seem like they are looking to bring him back to post the "Thank you" to twitter so im assuming were moving on.
I always liked him and wish him the best, hes one of the few that managed to rel-learn the game in the shift era and become productive again.

As late as this was announced it would seem to suggest they tried to work something out, and didnt.

I don't think they could have worked anything out, it was either they pick up his option, or don't. Now that they declined it they could still negotiate a contract.
