But it’s not like this type of managing is working either.
Boone and Nevin basically say the same things post-game. They’re buddies, were both with the Yankees, and sound exactly like each other.

As we all know...many players have trouble living up to an expectation (ie "a bar being set") & could very well be one of the underlying problems with the current squad. I mean, take how some of the young players were rushed in their development only to, now, face the incessant pressure (especially this season) to "win now or we'll lose #17" further pressed by a rabid media as well. I mean...it hasn't been talked about much here but if the pressure to make the playoffs has been felt by the fans (as I can attest I've experienced) isn't it likely to be many times worse for the players in that clubhouse & could be a reason why some have regressed? I know it's fun to blame Wise but could this, also, be a contributing factor? As it might explain Ohtani's pitching problems/physical ailments this season. As, maybe, he's been pushing himself even harder not just to win but, because he wants to stay an Angel? 

Of all of the players that the Angels will be featuring in 2024, I believe O'Hoppe will be the one player that excels beyond expectations. This guy is going to be the Angels Gary Carter. 

We've had Ohtani for six years and never made the playoffs.  Even if he came back, what would be different?
There's no easy fix here.  Our talent just isn't on the same level of higher end teams, and our best player is 32 and injury prone.  It just is what it is.  We all know a rebuild is needed, but with the team infrastructure full of Arte's cronies and our history (or lack therof) of draft success, I doubt that we could do so successfully.  
We need new ownership, plain and simple.  

Lol dude. We all know you love Nevin but we are no where near close to winning the West. Until we can prove otherwise, we are absolutely Houston’s bitch. Even if Texas fades, Seattle is better positioned going forward than we are. 
 
Our best chance is to sign Ohtani and scratch and claw our way to a WC next year. We’re light years behind Houston.

Just last year @Brandon helped me with a refi.  Super nice guy.  My SIL was in the middle of some real estate stuff at the time and while he wasn't able to help her directly, he did give her several recommendations that helped her through the process.
Will miss his stories about KC.

brandon was a fascinating person for me. he lived a life far different from what conservative little me had lived, and i was fascinated by his stories. we hung out a few times, mostly at aw softball games and a time or two at throwbacks. at one of the softball games i brought my daughter along. she couldn't stop looking at his tattoos (he had two full sleeves and they were both very colorful). but he was really chill with her, and it was a moment to see part of his softer side, something that didn't always come through in his posts here.
we had an aw beerfest at throwbacks one friday, and he and adam were determined to drink one of each of the 17 different beers they served. one of the pictures from @Chuckster70 shows adam and brandon after about beer #13 or 14, and their eyes were just hilarious at that point. brandon also brought his poker chips and a deck of cards, and at one point in the afternoon he asked if i wanted to play some poker with him, just for fun. i'm pretty much a novice and i knew that he was a fairly regular player, but i agreed. i started off well, winning the first couple of hands and feeling like maybe i was gonna be okay. and then, bam! i think he wiped me out in the next three hands. it was made more impressive by the amount of alcohol he had consumed by that point. i was thankful we were just playing with chips and not cash.
i hope his family is okay. his sister used to post here several years ago, and she was a good person. they could certainly use your prayers if you feel so inclined.

I also want to add here that it makes me smile to know Lou saw what we were saying, and that his family was able to, as well.
Just wish Lou would have called us all dumbass one last time.

PJ, my deepest sympathy to the family.
In common with many people here, although I never met Lou in person, I felt like I knew him. His sarcasm was an art form. It was amusing to watch him toy with the occasional newcomer who mistakenly believed that he would get the best of Lou. His takes on the Angels were simultaneously amazing and amusing.
We are all richer for him having been here, and poorer for him being gone. Thank you for sharing him with us. I hope that you stay with us, and let us know how the family is doing from time to time.

My condolences to you and your family for a beloved and wonderful man gone too soon.

I start posts about baseball and erase them.  This season had already taken the wind out of our sails from a baseball standpoint and now all I can think about are @Lou and @Brandon and their families.   I just keep reminding myself that regardless of their play, this team brought us all together and they're responsible for the joy those guys brought to our lives.  Two weeks ago I was frustrated with the season.  Now I couldn't give a shit.
