There should be a law that says if you call a broad weird-looking on a forum, you gotta post a recent photo of yourself.

UZR counts all plays as pass-fail: compared to an average MLB player, did you or did you not make a play in a certain spot on the field?
DRS does that, but also includes the number of bases you saved or cost your team by making or not making the play, and that is converted into runs. 
If you’re comparing apples to apples (OF to OF, SS to SS) either works just as well.
UZR is probably better for comparing raw defensive skill. DRS is better for comparing impact on winning games. 
Another thing for OFs: HR robberies really skew the DRS. That’s why Trout’s numbers were so high in 2012. He had 4, I think. In other years he had maybe 1 a year. That’s more a factor of opportunity than skill. (Also of the fence height in your home ballpark.)
Also, neither of them take positioning into account. If you start a play shaded way deep and in the gap and a ball comes straight to you, you get a lot of credit for your “range” even though you didn’t move. That’s the main reason all these defensive metrics are of limited use.

Yup, Skaggs looks promising but he has yet to prove he can even pitch a full season. Could be a similar situation to when we passed on trading Bedrosian during his best season when the reliever trade market was ridiculous. Not saying I would actively shop him, but it shouldn't be out of the question.

You will never get more for Skaggs than you would right now.
That doesn't mean I try to actively trade him.  But until I know what is offered, I don't decide anything.

Also, one time a GM told me, only half joking, that the best way to turn a bad bullpen into a good bullpen would be to bring back all the exact same pitchers.

It was a dirty play, but he won’t get suspended.  He veered towards him which he’s not allowed to do, he brought his foot up, which he’s not allowed to do, but he won’t be suspended because he was still able to touch the bag on the slide.  I hate they guy, and think he is a dirty player, but not sure it is worth a suspension, a fastball to the ribs, yes, a suspension, no.

I see a lot of people saying we should go after another starter along the lines of Odorrizi, Cashner, Lynn. While I have nothing against those options, I don't see how they actually improve the team beyond providing depth. Why not just get the guy who would actually likely be our best starter in a season where we are trying to not just make the postseason, but make noise. I understand he is not the ace he once was, but he would still likely be our best starter (Richards if healthy and Ohtani have equal potential, but key word is likely). This team has the pieces to make the playoffs, but if we are to make an addition to the rotation, why not add the guy who would give us the best chance to get over the hump between playoff team and WS contender. 
Will Arrieta be overpayed? Yes in terms of his later years likely lacking production, but why tread water with the other guys when we have a lot of key guys in their primes now and not getting any younger (Upton, Calhoun, Simmons, Richards, Cozart). 

I really don't trust Billy Bob or Cletus with a vigilante complex to effectively defuse the situation, rather than cause more confusion, bullets flying around, and death.

Also a big Eagles fan. Is it too much to ask for an Eagles superbowl and Angels WS in the same year?

My college roommates were all A's fans. We'd go up to watch games sometimes. I've probably been to the Coliseum a dozen times. The stadium is the worst I've ever been to. It's concrete, it's smelly, there are puddles even though it hasn't rained for a month. The food options aren't great. The bathrooms are gross. The surrounding neighborhoods are terrible and there's nothing to do there.
That being said, there's no reason to fear going there. Downtown Oakland is pretty nice. Just take BART from there to the stadium. I wore my Angels gear there with no problems at all. It's a very different crowd then for the Raiders games. It's a crowd of about 15k suburbanites from Walnut Creek.

Three important trends to look at imo are Outside Zone Swing%, Hard hit%, and BB and K rate. So basically, he's been selecting better pitches and making harder contact, the only difference being that his BABIP did not increase along with it. This past year it did and it jumped to a completely reasonable .312 from the .250-.270 it had been in the years prior. Add in the above average defense and we might've gotten the steal of the offseason.
I told the Reds they should offer Cozart a QO and later in the interview was asked about what I would do for the team I followed. I told them I'd upgrade second, with Cozart being a good target. Didn't get the job but hopefully Cozart can make them pay for letting him go for nothing.

Power wise?  Probably not.  But he doesn't have to do much to out perform Valbuena in every other category.  Not to mention, Ohtani will be given every chance possible to succeed.  He won't be sitting on the bench for someone like Valbuena.

I rather take one year of Headley than 5 years of Longoria.
