I know the offense is a little shallow but today's line up was one of the most pathetic things I've seen from the Angels in recent years, against the hottest pitcher in baseball none the less. I guess it looks much worse without freese, but benching Calhoun bothered me, then bringing in salas(this wasn't sosh at least).

This just keeps getting worse and worse. It also explains a lot. Can you imagine if we had to face Trout? We ignore the scouting reports and pitch him down? And then wonder why he slugs 1.000 against us. Or someone like Napoli--if he knows we pitch everyone down and away, pretty easy to look for that. Nice "one size fits all" approach to the game, skip.

If anyone thinks this was about MS's unwillingness to use advanced metrics then the big picture has been missed.  
 
I actually think MS will use certain metrics and it's clear he's implemented some of this into his style.  
 
This was about the fact that Dipoto wanted to run the show and he was handcuffed in several directions.  He even said that he wasn't able to help the club the way he wanted to.  
 
his budget was pulled out from under him by the pujols and hamilton signings
he was forced to use a pre-existing manager and coaching staff
his farm director wasn't of his choosing
he tried to provide data to the team to help them win and it wasn't implemented to his liking
 
so every little thing he did was a battle.  he was constantly forced to compromise the way he wanted to do things.  
 
Not only did that wear on him (clearly), but it undermined his authority and bred a lack of respect and trust for what he was trying to do.  It was an accumulation of headaches that shouldn't have been.  He was constantly asking permission to do things he shouldn't have needed to.  
 
When your owner effectively brings in big named players
and your manager gets to pick and choose the which of your ideas he wants to implement 
and you have to ask supposed subordinates if its ok to do certain things
 
then who are the guys on the field accountable to?  
 
this organization set him up to not receive the respect he was entitled to based on his position.  
 
and when he held a meeting with his coaches and manager indicating 'this is how I want things done' he got inappropriate resistance from someone who should have been keeping their mouth shut for fear of losing their job but that persons job wasn't accountable to Jerry. 
and when he held another meeting with the players indicating 'this is how I want things done' he got inappropriate backlash from someone because that someone is more accountable to the owner and manager than the gm.  
 
and like that.....he's gone.  

Considering the compensation situation, and nice article nando, I would say go after Sekara, since I think he's a UFA.  And we have the pieces then to trade for an offensive piece.  Do they have sign and trades in the NHL?  I think atm, Etem would be one I would trade.  He just seems to be slowing down, and not that fast big physical force I was hoping he would develop into.  Then again, after Beleskey leaves, you may have to keep Etem.  
 
Although, just lowballing Saad at $3.65 million for 3-4 years.  He made $795k last season.  3-4 years at $3.65 is swallowable in case he turns into a pumpkin.  And we would only lose 1 second rounder.  At least that will give the baseline that the Blackhawks have to beat.  Which for them isn't a small feat.  Heck, even offer a $2-3 million offer to Toffoli for 5 years.  

No way in hell would I trade Richards for Baez. If anything id rather see a small trade done for dexter fowler. Dude can solve our lead off woes.

Amphetamines can help you focus or get in the zone. Just look at aderrall, it's a huge problem in colleges and Chris Davis got busted for it last year. But now he has a prescription for it so it's okay for him to use, which is bogus IMO.
