Dodgers haven't won anything yet outside of a lot of regular season games.

I used to work for a company based in Seattle and I traveled there a ton.  The whole office up there was so jacked when the Mariners had that year winning 116 games. . .and then they didn't win it all.  Those people were devastated.  They were let down, shocked, even embarrassed.  There was legitimate shame happening.  They felt the baseball God's betrayed them and stole something from them.  For them it was very painful.
As an Angel fan, it was great and it remains a nice little jab a give some of the people I stay in contact with.
So ultimately I could really enjoy what happens with the Dodgers this year.
    Crossing my fingers. . .

It still did not make any senses that the Angels traded Hernandez. I know he has been shaky in his last couple of outings but he is still having a very good year as a reliever. If the Angels had confidence in making the postseason as a wild card, it would have made no sense to trade away someone who was having a good year out of the bullpen in Hernandez. That move was a move that a team that is way out of playoff contention would make.

You can just pencil Pujols' name right after Trout in the lineup as long as MS is still the manager of the team. Just saying.

But he has a lot of RBIs, so he must be having a good year.

JustATroutFan got a reaction from ettin in Trout's August numbers (Final Game of August 2017 tonight vs. Oakland)
.284/.452/.457 slash line in 115 plate appearances this August entering tonight's game against the Athletics. Final game of the month of August this year.
I don't remember if it's true or not but I think Trout's worst month in his career is August. Nope, I was wrong. August's is Trout's second worst month of his career. In 159 games in August, he has a slash line .288/.409/.529, still superstar numbers. He has had years where he was still great in August: 2013 (.337/.500/.590 in 110 plate appearances) and 2016 (.349/.486/.651 in 107 plate appearances). However, he has had years in which he struggled in August: 2012 (.284/.355/.500 in 134 plate appearances), 2014 (.254/.318/.492 in 132 plate appearances), and 2015 (.218/.352/.337 in 122 plate appearances).
I do think that a big August will make Trout's MVP case more compelling since he missed almost 2 months due to injuries, so he lost about close to 200 plate appearances. The total amount of plate appearances do matter. So if he keeps on putting up numbers for the rest of the month and get his PA's up more, it would make his counting numbers look way better. If his season ended after today, he probably won't even finish in the top-3 in the AL MVP race even though when he has been out there playing, he's way better than anybody, going by OPS+.

So Judge is Dunn with good defense and good speed? Boy, if Dunn had good defense and good speed to go along with almost 500 home runs, he would get HOF consideration.

I am assuming you are referring to a healthy Richards, right? Richards, when healthy, is in no way a #3 SP on any other team. That is bogus. Remember in 2014, before he got hurt against the Red Sox, he was putting up a 2.61 ERA with an outstanding WHIP in over 160 innings pitched. That is not a #3 SP. That is your ace pitcher. And Cashner has been hurt many times in his career, as well.

Angels signing Arrieta is risky. Sure he was good overall in 2016 but his ERA was like almost 4 after the ASB last year......and that was him pitching behind a historically great defense and in the National League. He has been hot and cold again in 2017. He will never pitch like he did in 2015 or even in 2014 again. Also remember that he didn't do so hot in the AL with the O's and that he is over 30 years old.

As of right now, they still are. They still have a lot of work to do to just get one of the two WC spots this year. Nothing is official yet in terms of the postseason seedings. If they make the postseason, the majority of the credit should go to Trout and Simmons. Both guys have played their hearts out just to make this team 2 games above .500 despite many guys on the team underperforming.  5 great years (2012-2016) that Trout has put up and just one season in the postseason. Bad contracts given to Pujols, Hamilton, CJ (no, not Cron, but Wilson), Blanton, the list goes on and on. And the Joyce trade did not worked out so well either. What other bad trades has the Angels made during the Trout we that I am missing?

I miss Howie man.  He hit a walk off salami today.  Happy for him being on a team that's a sure playoff bet.
He'd have been a nice fit for this team right now.  Although the nats gave up a decent prospect and international bonus money to get him.
As for the topic, the 2014 halos were an offensive juggernaut relative to the rest of the league and they led the league in runs scored with 773.  They also had an ISO of .147 which ranked them 5th in all of baseball.  Fast forward to 2017 and their ISO is .146.  Good for 28th in baseball.  They are on pace for about 700 runs so that's quite a drop off or quite a bit to make up between now and then.  Even still, the amount of power around the league is crazy.  So even with an offensive surge and guys like Calhoun, Cron, Valbuena, and Pujols stepping up if they can, we'll still likely end up somewhere in the upper portion of the second tier vs. the rest of baseball.  Personally, I don't see a ton of similarities.
