    Bump.
He says he's not coming back, but grass definitely has not been greener in 19-22. Four previous seasons, they were 85-77, 74-88, 80-82, and 80-82. For a .492 winning percentage.
    The four years they've had since, 72-90, 26-34, 77-85 and 39-53. That's .450.
Number of 80+ win seasons under MS? 15/19. Zero since. (and not on pace for 80 in pandemic season, which would've counted).
Number of 80+ win seasons in other years? 16/43.

I doubt Nevin gets the job after this showing (12-24) even if he turns it all around, and knowing Moreno and Minasian's penchant for nostalgia, I wouldn't rule it out.
There are a lot of other candidates, but I'd expect the entire staff to be let go. Except maybe Ray Montgomery, who may also have a shot at the job.
The hottest names would be Girardi, Mattingly if he is let go, and Beltran/Espada likely won't be considered cuz of their possible ties to cheating.
The Rays Bench Coach Quartaro? is a possibility as is Kevin Long, the Phillies hitting coach.
But a Manager who knows how to use Analytics or get away from the three true outcomes is coming.
I still feel Scioscia would have this team winning, with the team it has now. Hit and runs, moving people over, Not leading the league in strikeouts.

DiGiovanna Puts the issues the past 8 weeks squarely on the Offense. The pitching has slipped a bit, but the offense has basically cratered, due to poor strikeouts among other things. The offense has a .824 OPS in the first three spots, despite Trout and Ohtani's struggle in the losing streak, and Ward's struggled the past two months too. Walsh has been terrible in July, and not great in June Either. Stassi, same deal. Marsh, Same deal.
12-36 from May 25 through July 17th, is frankly, terrible. It's a .250 Winning Percentage. Yes the 14 game losing streak sucks, but they've gone 12-22 since, and that's a .353 Winning Percentage which is also terrible.
Nevin is not going to get the job and they probably can't rally to make the playoffs unless they somehow went on like a 15 or 20 game winning streak, starting Friday night.

I should be there Saturday or Sunday depending on whether my son and ex go or my girlfriend.  I think we should all go Saturday and then go to me home in Roswell and party.  Uber is easy here so we could minimize any risk.

I honestly think we would not be in this situation if this was Scioscia's 23rd year managing.
Grass looked greener after 2018, but Ausmus was terrible, Maddon was just ok, and Nevin has been Terrible. They seemed to forget how to hit. And pitch. And do anything correctly. It's bad lineup decisions, and bad everything.
Blame Arte for spending on the wrong guys, blame injuries, but Scioscia would have this team at or near .500 despite their struggles.

Hubs got a reaction from CaliAngel in Luis Rengifo is becoming a player
This is totally cherry picking. Nothing clicked, he just played well for a week, after being terrible, borderline the worst non-platoon infielder in the game for most of the month.
    Rengifo's June Numbers
    25 G, 22 GS, 89 PA, 85 AB, 17 H, 5 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 3 BB, 15 K, .200 BA/ .236 OBP /.353 SLG /.589 OPS.
June Minus the last 6 games.
    19 G, 16 GS, 67 PA, 64 AB, 9 H, 4 2B, 1 3B, 0 HR, 2 BB, 14K, .140 BA/ .164 OBP / .224 SLG / .388 OPS.

A .388 OPS. He's one of the primary reasons that the team has been terrible this month.

Shocked that Servais didn't get something for causing the whole situation to begin with.
They threw inside all series and in the Sunday game last weekend, particularly at Trout and also at Walsh and Ohtani.

They need infield help. Last year, they had no production from the MINF, and then later when Rendon went down, no production from 3rd.
This year, when Rendon is giving league average production, they were winning. Tyler Wade was hitting over .300 in April and playing a lot.
He's been terrible lately, though. Just like Duffy, Mayfield, Wade, and Velazquez. Marsh and Lageres have been pretty hitting pretty poorly too. They have struggled to score runs, because 1/2 of the lineup is way below replacement level. Rengifo and Fletcher had two of the worst three OPS+ in the majors last year, and this year, all of them are back around this number. We're talking below 70 OPS+
    1) Stefanic is not healthy yet as far as I know. He picked the worst time to get injured. I don't know if he'd play everyday but they should try it.
    2) No one else in AAA looks to provide an immediate offensive boost.
    3) Fletcher is weeks away from coming back. And is he an offensive boost?

I knew we should've signed a SS in free agency.

Rengifo isn’t great defensively but he’s downright terrible offensively too. He had a few good games when he was called up but now he’s got to go back to AAA.
i know Wade, Duffy, and Velazquez aren’t killing it either but yeah, Rengifo is terrible to the point of a sub .100 average in his last two weeks. Stefanic is due back from the IL soon. They need offense.

The fleeing California thing is overblown by certain media groups. It's true we had a net negative for the first time in 2021, but in the 10 years from 2010 to 2020, we gained 2.5 Million people. We're at 39.24 million people.
Charlotte, like Vegas is a fraction of the population of Los Angeles metro area, which again, to many of the pro Anaheim crowd, forget that they are a suburb of Los Angeles. Charlotte has a similar metro population of Vegas, at 2.6 M, to Vegas's 2.2. Los Angeles Metro has 19M.
People upset over the name change in 2005, forget that they were only the Anaheim Angels for 8 seasons, then the Los Angels Angels of Anaheim (Because of the lease requiring Anaheim in the name) for 11 seasons from 2005-2015 and have just been the Los Angeles Angels since 2016, meaning this is the 7th year of just Los Angeles in the name this time around and the 12th season overall. They were the California Angels because in 1966, when they moved to Anaheim there was space between the cities. Now, when you drive south from Downtown Los Angeles, the only way you even know you're in OC is that the freeway gets nicer.
So let's stop with the Angels belong in Los Angeles proper, ok? Or the dumb name change puns.
