Just because a pitch is so filthy that it fools an umpire and is difficult for a catcher to frame doesn't mean it's not a strike.  Bring on the robots and take the subjectivity out of umpiring.

I see this as an argument for the robot. A strike is a strike as defined by the rule book, not the umpire's perception. Remove the subjectivity, let the hitters adjust, and the game is far better off.

Pretty good comeback from our boys down 2-0 to a young hot team to give them their first loss of the year.  Once they were down 2-0 I really thought the flood gates were open and flashbacks of last year started creeping in.  Man, this team will be interesting at the trading deadline with about $15 million (after the LTIR) to play with.

I think Maddon is hoping Zobrist will retire so he can hire him to rotate between bench coach, 3rd base coach, hitting coach, and batboy depending on matchups

Besides the impact on his own finances (which I don’t blame, just keep quiet or take the Steve Kerr route instead of taking the China side if you’re going to be the voice of free speech and being more than an athlete), what are the consequences and ramifications of the tweet?
Funny when monies involved, he’s not more than an athlete and he wants to shut up and dribble.

Not a chance. 35 would be the absolute most, and that's a stretch. Compare what everyone was saying about Bryce and Manny. They didn't come close to contract expectations. Analysts get paid for hot takes. There's not a chance he gets over 35 unless a lot is deferred. Even then, it won't be much over.
Boras as an agent is overrated. His success in recent years has diminished substantially. He used to be hot stuff for two reasons:
First, people didn't know enough to recognize his client pitch was full of crap - front offices are far smarter now. They have their value for the player set and don't usually go much beyond it.
Second, more importantly, Boras went straight to the owners as much as possible. These days, with Illitch and Steinbrenner gone and the Nats working on keeping Strasburg, there aren't enough owners who want to go big to bid against each other.

and without Harper must make it even sweeter for that organization.  I'd assume they can keep Rendon now with the money they almost wasted on Bryce.
