Green got hurt?? That's terrible. He finally gets a shot and he's out.

I've stated since ST that I thought Green deserved to be on the 25 man roster all season.

not sure why some folks don't like him -- he's not the best glove at 2B, probably can't play SS (does not have a solid enough glove) and is OK at 3B.

He can play some OF, well, LF -- not well, but has shown he can play out there.

fairly versatile and if he gets some ABs has some decent power.

I appreciate Weaver's competitive spirit, but it always kind of irritates me when a pitcher gets on his teammates like that. Especially two guys who always bust their ass out there and have helped the team all season. Shit happens. It's not like they yelled at Weaver in the middle of all his crappy starts earlier this year. People used to hate Lackey for this same thing, but Weaver does it and is a hero.

It seems pretty ridiculous to set the bar at "nobody has died yet". Casual fans help pay the bills. They aren't going away.
A quick research would show what area creates a danger zone in any given stadium. You throw up a bit of netting and potentially save many teeth from extinction and the rest of the crowd goes on with their lives.
For those of you who refuse to accept the inevitable, I recommend foot stomping followed by holding your breath until you get your way.

We need to find a way to keep Grant Green in the everyday lineup. The kid is a career .260 hitter in the majors and he represents a huge improvement over other bottom of the order options. He may be "weak" defensively but we have seen that just means he would fit in perfectly with the rest of the team.

It's amazing just how bad Bedrosian is. I thought he would be a staple in the pen last season when he was dominating in the minors last year.

Yeah, screw that safe little world crap. I think they should do away with all metal detectors, do away with TSA, allow texting while driving, do away with speed limits on roads and freeways, and make sure all types of food have some kind of fat content.

Absolutely.....why should a hockey goalie wear a mask if he knows the puck is coming? Every parent who sits with their child behind the dugout should be arrested for child endangerment. Base coaches wearing helmets? What for? It's safe out there!

I am not bothered by the nets.  Heck nets are in front of the most expensive seats in the stadium.

As a safety precaution, it's not a bad idea.  In some stadiums, even if you have a glove, you might not even be able to react to it fast enough.  Like Boston and Chicago.  And before people get all macho and say no way.  I've seen a good group of AW.com people play softball, they wouldn't be able to react to some of the bullets.  Although the quality of players has gotten pretty good lately at summer fanfest.

Also, when a shattered bat is heading towards you, it's not an easy task to grab/block it.

Why do we award a highly trained athlete a free base for getting hit by a 96 mph fastball? He should've been paying attention right?

But a non athletic fan sitting next to the dugout must have the ability to get out of the way of a hit ball traveling 130+mph?

Why do the base coaches wear helmets? They're supposed to be paying attention right?

A ball traveling at a high rate of speed can be deflected by the guy sitting directly in front of you. If that's not dangerous then what's the point of a catchers mask?

Seems like a weird thing to oppose. You shouldn't have to worry about taking a 95 mph foul ball to the dome while eating a hot dog.

I haven't understood why the organization thinks Featherston is an answer to anything. He is not good defensively, obviously completely overmatched offensively and is an average runner at best. You can find a plethora of guys like him in the minors. Why waste a roster spot for a AAA utility guy.

I can't fault a guy for not wanting to pitch when the act of pitching is causing him significant physical pain.  And I could see the 'suck it up' attitude if he was our best option.  I'm honestly not seeing either.  Let him get the surgery, get as healthy as he can and see if he can contribute from the pen next year maybe.  Never know - he might become a decent 7th inning option for us in 2016.

And I wouldn't mind if he decided to develop a knuckler.

As for the money, Arte's on the hook either way, and his trade value is about the same as Matt Joyce's right now.  So that money's really already spent.  Only thing you can do going forward, in any of these situations, is to do the best you can with what you're holding.  Concentrating on the dollar amount of the contract just leaves you open for the sunk cost fallacy.

Nope. Skaggs apparently wants to pitch this year and the Angels management has stood firm on the original recovery plan, which is to get him back in 2016. According to this Fletcher article they've said that if he pitches anywhere in 2015 it will only be Instructional League. Smart of the Angels not to rush him, IMHO.

Umm, I'm wondering if some of the posters on this thread have actually been fans for more than a season or two. This is the Angels. I've been a fan for thirty-five years, and this is pretty much what they are. They get hot and get you excited and then they come back to earth and drive you crazy.

Regardless of how this season plays out, getting rid of Hamilton made it a winner in my book.  I hope that marked a change in how free agents are evaluated before they are signed.

They were killing it for a while and have now struggled a bit, but that will always happen. It doesn't help that their best player, who happens to be THE best player, got injured in the middle of it.  I still believe this team can be pretty solid.  I would have liked a MOTO bat, but I'd rather them sign one in the offseason if the price isn't right, which it clearly isn't.  The team has the potential to be really good in the upcoming years and holding onto their young talent will be a part of that. This just doesn't seem like the type of year you go all in.  As is, this team is most likely going to get at least a wild card spot.

Calhoun has a 2.4 WAR, higher than Carpenter and on track for about 4, which is about what Carpenter had last year.  He is on pace for 21 HR, 90 RBI, 71 runs scored, and he plays solid defense.  He is also hitting .350 with RISP this year.  As a matter of fact he is hitting .350 with men on any base.  He was worth 3.7 WAR last year so he is definitely better than decent.  The guy has a bad week and now all of the sudden he is mediocre.  He is hitting .261 over his last 5 games, but is hitting .333 over his last 6 and also .333 for the last month.

A team is never the same when a key player is out, but they scored 5 runs tonight. If the pitching staff hadn't completely melted down that could have been enough to win. They had the lead at several points in the game.

Robertson is batting .274 and he's made some pretty nice defensive plays. He doesn't suck. IMHO they should just start him over Joyce all the time.

it has nothing to do with that, and everything to do with him being completely unapologetic or taking any responsibility for his actions.
This is about accountability, not drugs.
Not to mention being a complete baby and not having the stone to see thru his commitment here and wanted to go home.
Dont act like were all jerks for this... i dont have an issue with his drugs or his relapse, i have a huge issue with him not owning it and acknowledging nay responsibility in the matter for how he left the club.
the rest is your issue, not mine

I disagree that there should be a lawsuit, but I do believe their should be netting that goes past the dugouts, it just makes too much sense. If I owned a team, for no other reason than to cover my ass, I would put up netting. Even if you are paying attention if a player yacks a ball foul it could kill you. If a ball was rocketed at me and I duck and it kills the person behind me, is it really because that person wasn't paying attention? Do they really have the ability to get out of the way after I duck? Just put up a net, who cares.

IMO, some stadiums do need additional netting.  Wrigley and Fenway, you can practically spit on a batter, they are that close.  You barely have enough time to react to a line drive.

Mausoleum on the other hand.  I'm not even sure you need one behind home plate.  It's so far away, you need binoculars from the front row.

Personally, I don't  mind the netting.  It doesn't bother me when I'm behind them at baseball or hockey games.
