Literally the day Richards was wheeled into surgery they had a projected timeline for his recovery. After his surgery he showed up in full uniform with his knee brace to support his team. And every few months we read news stories about how he'd met this milestone or that milestone and was making progress.
Hamilton? He doesn't have surgery until just before ST, he supposedly has a fairly minor procedure and yet there's no timeline for his recovery, he hasn't come to ST or a single game and we haven't heard anything that suggests he is making an effort.

Yep. Richards could have been upset about missing postseason - but he went to the games and stood or sat at the rail with his team. With Skaggs, Richards, and the others who have had minor or major injuries, the theme has seemed to be "go! go! go! I want to get back out there!" With Hamilton, it seems to be "meh. I'll hit off a tee for a bit."

Yes, I know plenty about addiction seeing as I work with addicted youths 40 hours a week, have had multiple trainings on it, and work very closely with an addiction counselor. 
 
If his addiction is so strong, maybe he should put baseball behind him; retire and focus on strengthening himself, his confidence, and his abilities to fight his addiction. Maybe he should take the advice that his close friend gave him when this news first broke and walk away from the game. 
 
I have sympathies for people with addictions, but this guy needs to stop being babied. At what point does his addiction become his first and foremost issue to settle in his life?

Rosenthal is such a complete worm. Hamilton did not receive any public trial. What Rosenthal and the rest of the media presented as their evidence to be weighed (without having the balls to say they were happy as shit to have something to report) is what public opinion is being formed from, not quotes from the Angels front office. Up until today the Angels organization has been pretty tight lipped about the entire situation and I'm sure Ken is pretty pissed he didn't get any quotes from his insiders.

That is the most important thing, his recovery from the addictions.
 
Not saying that they should be lenient on him because he reported it himself, just saying that it should maybe factor in a little at least.
